Exclamation Misfiring after header install

So I installed headers on my own and plan to get a tune soon, but I am getting a P0300 code along with a few other expected ones telling me my fuel is running to rich. I’m assuming that since it’s reading rich the car is trying to lean out the fuel and that’s what’s causing the misfire. The misfire is odd tho, stabilitrak service light comes on car shakes a bit. I think unplugging one of the o2 sensors will fix this problem, but not sure. I drove the car for a week with one of the front o2’s plugged in the wrong way and this never happened but now that I fixed that I am getting the lean codes and misfire. Should re unplug the front o2? or should I unplug the backs?

If I am not mistaken, when installing headers on these cars, this borks the O2 sensors, and I think normally they get tuned out. Its one of those perma codes that happens with header installs, my tuner tuned out the code while tuning the engine for headers at the same time, if I remember right.

Yo do not unplug ANY of the O2 sensors. You need them functional. I'd check the plug wires. Did you replace any? You may have one thats burned or broken from pulling them off and pushing them back on. The factory ones are brittle and need to be replaced if you pull them off. Check those plug wires and leave all the o2 sensors alone. The car needs those to work correctly.

Maybe the rear O2's but you definitely need the front O2's as they contribute to the AF ratios. There may be tuning required after a header install though.

Add me to the list that you may have accidentally damaged one.

But as far as I know most cars if not all. GM's, once you put headers on, You're going to have a check engine light. When I was dealing with one on a Tahoe after long tube install, The tuner I was using told me " tuning them out" is actually a myth, They tune the computer to ignore it or not throw a code.

I never got around to trying it myself, but there is a site or two that sells spacers for O2 sensors. How it's supposed to work is that it keeps the O2 sensor from being directly in the exhaust gasses stream, and setting off to the side a bit, which causes the sensor to read less of whatever is throwing the code.

EDIT: looks like the communists got his idea and started mass manufacturing them for cheap. Looks like you could try the fix for a few bucks.

Yes, the rears need to be turned off unless you put an extra bung down stream. But most everyone just turns the rears off in HP Tuners.

Bring back from the dead. Only took the people tuning my car a freaking week to figure this out. I can tell you who not to use as a tuner and Performance shop in the Southeast:(
