Looking at S-faced grin was worth it.

Looks like the 285/35s would fit on the stock rims and be about stock diameter! Humm

I have zl1 wheels. I am running 285/30’s on front and 305/30’s on back. To switch to the 305/35 MT’s, I also need to go with a taller tire in front. Planning 275/35’s.

Thanks King. That is awesome. Since I am planning on track tires with the track setup, I think I am sold on the Toyos for the street. I thought they were available in 305/30’s, but checking online, looks like I could go 315/30.

That means I won’t need to get new front tires...anyone know if I still have to move the wiring harness on the 315/30’s? I like not having to trash my existing front tires.

Definitely need to move the harness and I hear some say you need a 5mm spacer.

Ok so my front 555G2 Summer tires are 27.56. They are 275/35's. Will they work with the Nitto 555r's @ 28.58 diameter - 305/35?

When I first got my wheels I started off with 555G2's front and rear. 305/35 Rear and 275/35 Front and it gave that Stablitrac a FIT. I had to replace the rears to 305/30 to resolve that issue. Rear 555G2's are 28.41 Diameter so if the Drag Radial is 28.58. I may likely run right back into that nightmare.

You you will need to move the harness...it's super easy. Also take a plastic panel fastener secure the liner where the harness was. There is a hole in the frame right there, so poke a hole in the liner and install the plastic fastener. It will give you more clearance so you don't rub a hole in the liner.

You might...the thing with these ECM's is you program actual measured tire height in inches. You also go off of installed height with the tire installed on the car not manufacturer specs. So even though the 555r specs 28.58 it actually measures around 27.7 on the car. Just like the factory 275 run flat specs 27.6 but measures 26.83 loaded. So that is the number you use to calibrate speedo and shift points.

Point being different tires may squat more or less depending once installed on the vehicle. I would measure both the front and rear while on the car to see actual difference. Off the top of my head I think you will need a different tire up front or get a R888r in a size that works.

Based on the Lethal video, it appears he did the spacer so he didn’t have to move the wiring harness. Regardless, I will get the wiring harness moved...seems easy enough.

I am so confused. When I go looking at threads about tires, it’s like from one thread to the next there is just so much information that contradicts the other thread.

Advantage of the 315/30, I shouldn’t need to get rid of my ggg2’s on front (have about 2000miles on them...Toyos are probably not the best in terms of strip...but better on street.

If I go with new front and back, then either MT’s or Nitto 555R are viable options. I was told we would need 275/35’s and 305/35’s. Neither will be as good all around handling as the Toyo, but could use either on the strip.

I've had both as well and had a different experience. Maybe our streets are paved with different materials.

That brings me to the real point of this post. Trying to run 14psi on my street tires with cooling weather is not doable. In fact, it's downright scary!

In the past, I would get into 4th gear on the on-ramp slow down until I hit the straight away and then hammer it. It would let me log a good run to 6500RPM's. It was a little tricky before, but upping to 14psi...forget it. I was in 4th gear and anything below say 80mph would just spin the tires...not even a hint like it was going to catch hold. It was ridiculous.

I was on the same stretch of highway that I used for all of my runs, so while it might not have been the best, it has worked.

Bottom line is, I am done for the year. I am going to switch the pulley back to the 85mm pulley (8psi) which will be the 705whp/830hp setup. Once I get my new tires and the weather warms up, I will resume testing to figure out which boost level is best for the street. Once I can get to the track, we will resume the testing with the 14-15psi pulley and race fuel.

Recap:
85mm - 8psi - 700whp
80mm - 10psi - 730whp
75mm - 12psi - 760whp
70mm - ?? - couldn't finish testing

I think we could have played around with the 75mm pulley and gotten a higher number if we wanted to play with the dyno. We didn't force the converter to lock early and on the dyno we were seeing 1 degree of timing less than on the street. I am really confident we could have gotten 780-800whp at 12psi if we just wanted to get the dyno number. However it was driving so great and on the street runs the numbers look so good that we decided not to mess with it until we can get to the track.

Most likely, once I get better tires, I will return to the 12psi setup running pump e85. I think that setup might be good enough to run exactly the same on the street or dip into the 9's on the strip.

If I fall short of the 9's with my street setup, I will have one more lever to get over the hump and with 14-15psi, we will definitely get there.

I will be moving to the cosmetic section for the winter.
Can you post a video of your car please, i would like to see this awesomeness before i experience it myself.

Search for my name. I have pictures and videos on the forum in different places. I could do a walk around or get some videos driving if weather cooperates.

Here is a good link:

Most likely the car is in the garage until the new hood or chin splitter arrive.

I’m thinking that I may have to tune on dyno, the car can’t hook at any legal speed, and this is before E85.....

Must have some really cruddy tires then :( Regardless, dyno is 100 times safer and more consistent for tuning anyways.

true dat, So is there any dyno tuner in Austin area that are known? I know there are a few in Dallas and 21st performance comes to mind, a few more in Houston and I've heard of one in College Station. Still I'd like to keep to maybe College Station as the furthest, or San Antonio.
