Over 20K miles on my 2017. No issues. Still love it on the street and for Autocross.

Flappy paddle gear changes

I initially wanted a manual car and almost pulled the trigger on one after a test drive. It was fun and engaging, but after reading many different opinions of the A10, I was sold on it. I miss rowing gears, but the A10 is a beast. Coming from the last car with a 6L90E, the A10 is a 150% improvement.

I know the A10 is faster. But coming from BMW M5 SMG and DCT M3 I wanted to be more engaged in driving. Auto just seemed lame to me. For that reason only I went M6.

I hope the A10 will be bulletproof for years.
But I remember all the BMW nightmares after a few years of ownership.

I got that from Jeremy Clarkson at Top Gear.

Hey all,
I have the dreaded A8. Are there performance gains in the A10 vs. A8 in 0-60 and 1/4 mile?

I specifically ordered an A10 ZLE when the order banks came open. It’s straight awesome. 3400 track miles so far.

Normally I would say to Google it, but since I was curious as well, I did the leg work. After a QUICK search, it looks like it's a .2 difference in the 1/4. 12.4s vs 12.2s. 0-60 is 4s vs 3.9s.

I think the biggest difference is the A10 doesn't have the notorious shudder issue and I would take that over performance any day - but, it appears we have our cake and can eat it to in that regard.

Not much of a difference in the quarter mile between the A8 vs the A10 SS. The shudder is a major goof, but the A8 gets way more flak than it deserves, it's a great transmission after a tune.

I will go ahead and disagree. The A8 is a steaming pile of shite. Tuned or not it still shudders, slips or bangs gears for no reason. I fixed mine by getting rid of the car. If you had a different experience, cool. But I hated it and really tried to like it.

I agree for the most part... the “only” thing I prefer about the A8, over the A10, is the full throttle gear changes above 40-50 mph. Clearly subjective, but the A10 is extraordinarily smooth and somewhat lulls me into thinking I’m not going as fast as I really am. Where as the A8 felt more like shotgun with fewer but more intense gear changes.

I respect your opinion, Manalishi. My A8 has been darn near perfect so far, no bangs, no slip, no shudder... who knows, it might the exception rather than the rule, or suddenly implode later

However, only someone with real statistical data could tell what the real deal is, not worth discussing based on such a tiny sample as folks on this forum---and especially not in an A10 thread (sorry OP).
