Throttle Body Connector Clip Broken...

This may be really dumb, but I’m having trouble disconnecting my throttle body cable from the TB itself because the little gray tab broke off. Didn’t realize how brittle the plastic became, and so I accidentally tore it asunder as you can see in the picture.

Is there any way I can disconnect it without completely destroying the connector?

Thanks in advance!!

IF I understand what has happened, grasp the sides of the connector and wiggle left/right while pulling it away from the throttle body. The clip (now defunct) is what locks it into place.

I had this happen to me, the gray tab crumbled under pressure!

I did as Blue said and slowly wiggled it out.

I then took my car to the dealer for some rough idling and told them about it, I was trying to remove the TB to clean it hoping it would help with the idling.

They ended up replacing #5 injector and the TB as well as a new connector, which works so much better.
I have since removed this connector at least a dozen times with no issues.

You may be able to have it replaced as well on your next visit, just let them know what you did and why...trying to clean the TB, yeah that's the ticket!

I could never understand why they make so many different kinds of locking mechanisms and setups for electrical connectors. They are all different and there is usually no way to tell how to get them off and there usually always in a hard to reach area.

Unlock and push down...yeah right!

Yeah this is exactly what I was doing. Well, I was actually also trying to take the entire IM off so I can see if there was any gunk in the ports, and I didn't want to just leave my TB dangling about on that cable, so I tried to disconnect it. Then the tab broke. I ended up running out of time so I just settled with cleaning the TB alone.

Anyway, yeah I'm going to try what Blue said. And I'll also go ahead and take it to the dealer to get a new connector. Thanks a bunch!

That and their overuse of tree clips is also just as annoying.
