Exhaust clamp question

I'm gonna go resonator delete and bought just the x-pipe. Need to know what clamps would be recommended. I see wide ones from GM and regular u-style ones like any parts store would have. Just want a decent set of clamps without going poor lol

Stay away from the old, U-Style clamps no matter what you do.

They will crimp your pipe and take it out of round.

Most of your quality exhaust pipes these days come with good clamps. I know my Summit X-pipe did. You should be looking for I-Beam style clamps.

Some prefer to go with the butt type clamps, for joining 2 pipes end to end.

Almost all of my exhaust parts have come with clamps similar to these, for clamping one pipe over another. This is what will likely come with your Cat-back, axle-back , or slip fit style headers:

Ok. Well the x-pipe I'm getting is pieced out of another kit and doesn't have clamps so that's why I was asking. So summit is the place to get these?

Summit - these clamps are fantastic as you can disassemble or re position without deforming the pipes.

If the exhaust system has lap joints I would suggest the lap joint clamps. They'll help seal everything better around that connection. Just make sure you crank em on there

I wish I would have known about those when I bought my long tubes. I can't get them to seal up for shit and ended up deforming the collector on one.. Guess its time to get this shit welded

I would consider getting flanges or ball joint connectors welded on, rather than welding your X or mid pipe directly to the collector.

This way you can still disconnect when needed.
