K. So here's my findings on my 1le. When selecting track mode then pressing the TC button twice the Competition Mode shows up briefly then it shows options of wet, dry, sport1, sport2, and race. I decided to select race then put it in 1st gear with the clutch in. Then I held the gas pedal all the way down and the cars rev when to 3 and held. A little crowded around me so I didn't attempt to actually launch and didn't try any other setting then race. I always wondered why people said competition mode because when I looked down at the button and pressed it twice the competition would only show up on my gauge screen for like literally 1 second then it would go to the other options mentioned above. Thanks for giving something else to play with though.

Is that a 1LE thing? Or M6 thing? Our A8 doesn't give you selections.

1LE has PTM because of the eLSD.

Not really sure. The attached shows what screen pops up right after I hit the TC twice. Comes a second after seeing it say competition. I took a video of it too but I'm not sure I can upload those.

You are getting that pop up screen since you have PTM on. Turn that off and you will get the regular choices...the PTM stuff is more so for track use, not drag racing anyway.

Two 'Competitve Driving' modes:

Sport - two presses of button (enables launch control)

Track - two presses of button (enables PTM, launch control)

Pretty sure the only way to get into competition mode with launch control, is to be in Track Mode, then double tap the TC button. If that's just a typo, then the only other suggestion I have is to make sure you're pushing hard on the brakes and very quickly slam the throttle to floor.
I was in track mode so yes, that was a typo. I haven't been brave enough to go test it again yet but when I do, I'll make a conscious effort to stand on the brake and then stab the throttle in a deliberately quick fashion and see if that makes a difference. Easiest thing would be to ride along with someone who knows for sure they're doing it right and see what that feels like but I'm in no big hurry.

Thanks for the continued discussion.

I haven’t been to the track in about a year. I have since had headers, pulley, and a tune along with some Toyo DR’s. I’m curious if many people have tried using launch control set around 2,000 Rpm (I believe 2,400 is the highest you can set it)?

I used mine one time and it stripped the rubber up when it launch with DR's. Track guy wasn't too happy about it so I didnt and havent used it since. At 2000 rpm it left.
