Potential V8 power
So I was looking at options to push my car to at least keep up to the pack with V8 engine vehicles like the v8 camaro and the scat packs. I looked at supercharging it, having a larger throttle body (from solar performance. Overkill didnt do anything yet for 2020 models and he wont get back with me and this was before covid-19), a cai from Cold air inductions, a borla axelback with my xpipe, possibly some weight reduction like lighter rims, junk from the trunk, and at least an E85 tune. Does anyone think this is enough to keep up?
(No, I'm not going with the trade for a V8 option because I cant afford one atm) What I currently have is a muffler delete, resonated xpipe, and a pedal commander) |

Aside from some sort of forced induction you won't have a chance. A simple 100 shot would be far away your cheapest solution

Well I was looking a edelforce supercharger next year with the stuff I mentioned. I want to buy new set of tires if I do decide to push it. I just need to shave off a whole second if I want to keep up I think? Or what else could I consider?

gonna put my mod list down so you have an idea 80mm throttlebody from overkill, ported intake manifold from overkill American racing catless downpipes secondary cat delete and 2.5 inch x pipe in its place. straight piped back to an MBRP Quad Tip Stainless steel axelback JMS pedal Commander 2 K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake. Trifecta tune car runes off 93 octane. With these mods im making around 330-350 rwhp (last dyno i had no downpipes 80mm throttle body and ported intake, and the car made 309 rwhp so im my 330-350 is due to the new mods +tune) now i easily with no problem can beat stock 5.7 hemis all day running circles around them, never raced a modded one yet but im sure id destroy those too unless forced induction. now when it comes to ss camaros and 6.4l scatpacks i think (never tested due to no friends) that i can keep up with them untill that highend power kicks in. but honestly i can say unless you go forced induction there is no way to be in there speed range. but doesnt mean you cant keep up just that you wont win. |

I would get forced induction with a supercharger along with some small bolt ons like the axelback, bigger throttle body, better tires, and a new cai. Hope's that'll push about 400 beyond HP (I'm new to performance mods so excuse me if I'm wrong in numbers, I have done my research)

I agree that if you want to keep up with an SS, then you'll need a power adder, as just bolt-ons are not likely to do it. Attached below is a pic of a dragstrip timeslip with my bone stock SS in the left lane and a V6 (that I think was probably stock) in the right lane, to give you an idea of the performance difference between them.

Just for reference I ran my stock 2018 V6 last year and it ran a 13.8 at 104. This was on the factory 18" wheels as well. What was interesting is that I got to run a stock LS1 Z28 that ran a 13.5 at 104. Started talking to the guy in the staging lanes, and we agreed to try and line then up which we did. The fact that a stock 6th gen V6 can run with a stock 4th gen V8 made me have a whole new appreciation for this car

I would love to add a supercharger but I keep hearing misconceptions that itll void my warrenty the minute it's up there, I hear they'll deny your warranty if the supercharger breaks a part in the car, they wont service your car, etc. Which is it if I want to add a edelbrock supercharger? Do I have to call dealerships up if they're cool with me having a supercharger on it?

That said, it isn't true at all that a dealership will not even service the car, you just need to find a good one where they have expertise and willingness. It's just that unless Edelbrock takes over your drivetrain warranty (which is quite possible, you need to research), you may be on the hook for the total cost if something that is part of the drivetrain gives up the ghost.

I'm confused, it mentions this,
"Features include an Eaton TVS R1740 rotor assembly with an integrated air-to-water intercooler core and front-mount heat exchanger for low inlet air temperature and increased power potential. The Edelbrock supercharger for the Gen 2 HFV6-powered Camaro is designed to fit under the stock hood with no cutting or modifications and is backed by our industry-leading 3-year/36,000-mile powertrain warranty when applicable..." It says there wont be any cutting though? Does that mean it can be taken off or is it just saying it wont tear up the engine too badly? |
