Michelin 285 PS4s Shortage?

Seems I can't find the fronts anywhere in SS 1LE size, none of the big retailers, no tire-rack, costco, chevy dealer, discount-tire, etc. Anywhere that I do seem to find them, it seems sketchy and the part-no usually doesn't match up. Contacted Michelin and they said they were making them, but seems odd that they wouldn't have been doing this months in advance (of spring/summer). Been trying literally for months, so not a recent COVID thing.

Similar experiences? Do you just go for PSS?

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

I don't know if that's really correct, there are typically 4 sizes that "fit" a particular width rim, 285 is already at the recommended limit for a 10" rim. 295 might "work", but I'd want more data than that. Rubbing? Experiences?

according to Michelin the PS4 295/30/20 will fit 10"-11" rims. my 285/30/20 PSS are stretched on a 10" rim. I would think a 295 would fit better.

Maybe that's just specific to Michelin, tire-rack and pretty much everyone else state that 265/275 is the "optimum" for a 10" rim. 255 and 285 are possible, but outside the optimum and 295 would be going further away. I'll probably redouble efforts to see about 295s, I do recall seeing that on Michelin's site. But are there rubbing concerns?

Two things, 1) I'd go by the manufactures recommended rim widths, in this case 10-11" with 10.5 being optimal. 2)I haven't run them but I hear a lot of people saying the Michelins run a little narrow for their size. I know they did on my Kia with the AS3s.

Yeah, went with the 295s, so we'll see. It'll lift the front end almost a quarter of an inch, but that should be pretty notional.

I got a set of these in stock sizes on March 10th at Tire Discounters, but they had to special order them. Was just about to give up and get the Continentals, but they are hard to find in stock sizes also. The guy at my TD had to make some calls but he found me a set and the date code was Sept of 19, so they are good. Don't know why there is such a drought.

The ZL1 forum had some good insight. In short, a lot more new cars coming with this size of tire, so all the production stock going to the OEM on those cars.
