How do you know if you have magnetic ride control?
Hello, I’m currently in the market for a 2017-18 Camaro 2ss convertible. After reading countless used car descriptions on dealer’s web sites, I finally realized that if the car has dual mode exhaust it will have 4 exhaust pipes in the back. The question I have is there any way to tell if the car has magnetic ride control as an option just by looking at the pictures, or does it have to be listed in the dealer’s description of the car?

You can't by just looking at pictures. Other than checking the settings menu of the car in person, you can check the VIN and see the original options on the window sticker. There are a couple websites that will let you do that (costs a few bucks). Or you can just ask the dealer to check the car for you so that you won't waste a trip.

RPO code F55 on the list in the trunk is the easiest way to know for sure.

Sorry for the crappy pic. My car is in storage for the winter. As others said, look for the RPO code F55. You can find your RPO code sticker underneath the trunk mat. A second way is to go into the infotainment system —> under settings —> drive mode and suspensions option should be present. A third way to find out is to look under the front or rear and you should see the ride height sensor (Red circle in the picture). Lastly, you can email socialmedia@gm.com and ask for a build sheet. Just provide your VIN and they’ll send you the build sheet with every single option your car has hope this helps!

Thanks for the help. I’ll definitely use your suggestions as I continue my hunt for the right car.

You can also look for a little black wire on the bottom edge of your shock absorber.

I know this is a little late, but the easiest way to tell is to go into the settings menu in the infotainment system. If you select "driving mode," you can see if there is an option to change the suspension settings. If so, the car has MRC, and if not, restart the system once and check again (sometimes options can disappear because GM). Hopefully this helps!

This is wayyyy late but if my car has "track" under driving modes does that mean it has MRC? Or is that just like an empty slot on the dash. It CAN have MRC....or NOT but the Infotainment center leace the setting there in case they are added just like the one Car and Driver tested in 2018. It had MRC and was a 1SS so it is optional.

again, look under the car as in that picture, that's for sure how you'll know. That little arm is the sensor for the MRC, there's one on each wheel.
