I should have listened
If you're in the market for a 1LE, do yourself a favor and buy rock guards, street tires, etc. Mine got it's first wash today and i was a little surprised to see the paint chips on the inner fender lip. Sad thing is i have new tires and rock guards but just havent put them on yet.

I get what you are saying. And agree BUT...it is a car and if you are driving it you win! If you drive it shit will happen. So the math says it is ok.

I don't know how the 1LE's don't have rock chips peppered all down the side of the rear fenders since the tires poke so much. Mine is a standard ZL1 and like you I waited a little longer than I should to install my rock guards, my car has 2500 miles on it and I already have a few small rock chips on the rear fenders.

True but this could have been avoided. It's really not that bad but still. Yes, these cars should have rock guards on them from the factory. On the GT350s they are built into the rear if i remember correctly

The OEM 6 Gen non-ZL1 rock guard in color choice priced around $250 look great. It’s not gonna happen but would like to see GM offer similar set that fit the ZL1. Not too impressed with the aftermarket options we have.

I have a set and am glad I got them. I don't know that I think they're a great value, and are not an absolute solution for complete protection. I still see little pings of dust on the quarter panels from what I believe are coming off the front tires, but it's better than it was. I remember the first time I applied tire gel, both sides of the car were a complete mess from the sling off the front tires. What a mess...

I’m running the GM ones you’re referring to, and have to agree. I think they’re nicely done, fit up well, and look OEM.

I think the ZL1 still needs PPF in the important areas. I have ZL1 addon rock guards and PPF on front, front half hood, rockers, mirrors, lower front fenders and front rear quarters. I’m too cheap to do the whole car but feel it was worth it to do the key areas. |

Learned my lesson the hard way with this on my previous 2017 2SS.
Put rock guards on my ZL1 while the odometer read 4km. I run ZL1 addons premium rock guards. They do an excellent job and are inconspicuous.

On topic, the ACS rock guards are the absolute best, but they are so very expensive. I don't mind the mudflap style guards I have, and these are way better than the GM OEM body color splash guards with their minuscule coverage and protection. Oh, and the fronts are riveted in place, so no easy removal or replacement with those.

ACS's are extremely nice if matte black is a good color for you. I love them and extremely professional. They look OEM, and I'm so glad I listen to the people on this forum that told me what to do immediately before I even drove the car off the lot.

Just finished putting on the deluxe ZL1 Addons and the fronts look great. I feel the rears could be better but they'll work.
