Question for those using Magnuson SC reservoir

Is there a gasket or oring under your cap? Looks like a gasket is supposed to be there but mine doesn't. Is it a source of leakage? I have noticed I have to keep topping off the fluid level but dont see any leaks at the fittings or Hoses..

Sorry about the pics. This is a pic of my Cordes expansion tank. I do have an oring on the cap. You would think that since this is a closed system, there would have to be an oring on the cap. I don't think differences in manufacturer should matter.

The cap that came with my kit has a gray gasket on the expansion cap

Ok, so nothing between the tabs and outer edge. To me it looks like a gasket would fit in the flat area. Now to figure where I'm loosing fluid from.. I have topped it off 4 times past 200 miles.

I think we spoke in another thread. One of my SC bricks was leaking and got replaced. Kept running out of coolant.

Was the coolant shucked into the engine?

Did the coolant somehow mix with the oil at all?

Yes sir. I confirmed it with a pressure test and then further confirmed by looking at 02 Sensor on that side, had some white residue.

Not sure how this is possible...The intercoolers on these cars are air to water. Just got sucked right into the air intake runner.

I'm pretty sure mine did, but it's under a bit of pressue.

FWIW - 2300 and 2650 intercoolers are different. I'm not suggesting it couldn't happen with a 2650, but they are different.

Thanks. Wasn’t 100% sure if it was possible. I figured the coolant was inhaled by the runner but figured I’d ask.

I don't think there has ever been a gasket inside the cap. So your not seeing any coolant under the car anywhere? Its rare to see one of the bricks leak but it can happen. Where the hose go into the front of the brick thru the housing there are 2 O rings if I remember correctly on the 2650. The fittings on the 2300 are a little different. So on the 2650 its possible to pinch one of the O Rings on the fitting that attaches to the brick. I actually pinched one myself and coolant leaked into the cylinder and I had that blower off 1/2 dozen times but got in a hurry and didn't get the O Ring lubed up enough before I inserted the fitting in the brick. Caught it without any damage because I always turned the motor over without the spark plugs in to make sure everything was good and it was pumping coolant out of number 2 cylinder on the passenger side. I would doubt its leaking out of the cap. Check to make sure there are no cracks in the reservoir itself as I seen those crack but that would be rare also.
