Yep and there has been some good results with a GTO clutch reservoir mod and the Idealg better flowing master cylinder. Tick also makes a very nice replacement line. Don't forget the LPE spring.

This is the first report of the grind issue in the 1LE setup that I have heard.

600 miles on my 1LE now with none of these grinding issues.

Good to hear Tara. Have you had some high rpm shifts (over 4 k) yet? I for sure am doing the GTO reservoir mod. This keeps clutch dust from contaminating the brake fluid.

Actually no. I haven't taken it to redline yet. I've driven it rather conservative as yet. Even then, it's quite amazing and shifts very smoothly.

I don't think I want to mod anything like that while it's under warranty. It's my daily driver, ya know? :P

I have redlined my 1LE once or twice (can't resist anymore) and am pushing it in higher RPMS's (5500+) frequently now, and no grinding from what I can hear, ~750 miles on it. Is this just a 1 to 2 shift concern?

Can someone explain to me how you get clutch dust in the brake fluid since that would mean that the fluid has a leak path where dust can enter through?

First, welcome to C5. Good that you're doing your homework - you'll learn a lot around here. I had an early build 2010 and in 3 years of driving never had a problem with the 1-2 grind some people complain of. I did eventually replace the factory shifter with a MGW based on feedback from the Corvette forums, but primarily for a shorter throw. The 1-2 and 2-3 shifts never just floated into place like the 3-4 and 4-5 did but it never caused me to miss shifts or grind either.

I thank you for the responses but I know 100 percent it is not a skip shift problem. When this comes on it shifts just fine. The problem is it is not a smooth shift from 1 st to 2nd almost every time like 3 to 4 is. I do feel it gets a lot better if I rev up to 3800 plus to shift to second. Should I take it to the dealer or look at after market approach.

The 1LE has a tremac 6 tranny & the 2SS has a Tremac 10. As for the skip shift its for fuel economy. Chevy calls it One to Four Shift Message in the owners manual pg 9-32. When you see the shift pattern on your info screen it will only allow you to shift from 1st to 4th. The message appears when engine coolant is above 76 C, accelerating from a stop going 15 to 19 MPH & the car is at 21% throttle or less

Yours might get better as it breaks in. Wouldn't hurt to have the dealer take a look, but if they don't replace it right away it may get better with some mileage.

And I believe the corvette guys have been complaining about grinding as well.

I have a 2012 2SS. It had the grinding issues until I put 15k or so miles on it and then the dealership changed and flushed the brake/clutch fluid out. Since then it's been gravy...high rpm shifts and all.
