Homelink Functionality

The Homelink in my Camaro works very poorly in such that when my car is at different angles to the garage door motor, it does not operate.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the tank-like design of the Camaro. Thinking that the signal is blocked by short window height openings.

Is this unique to me, or is it common?

I have 2 doors programmed into my car, mine and Mom's.

At Mom's house I can hit the button about 50 yards from the house and her door opens just fine.

At my house I have to get the nose of the car less than 2 feet from the door to open it

Same here. I could always hit the opener in the car about 25-50 yards depending on the car. I pull the Camaro to the door and have to hit the button 3-4 times every night. It's not a huge deal, just noticeable.

The handheld remotes and my previous car both work from 2 houses away.

I was thinking that the Camaro just had a shorter range than other remotes until I programmed Mom's door and it works from the other side of her neighborhood

Maybe I'll try to reprogram it.

My 17 Camaro works at twice the distance of wife’s 18 XT5 on same door no matter the direction.

I noticed poor performance as well, all other cars I have had worked well, including my wife's current vehicle a 2007 Lexus. I have to be sitting in front of the door for the Camaro internal remote to work and sometimes it needs multiple attempts if it works at all. I've given up and I now keep the an additional remote in the car for the times it just doesn't work.

Mine works great, open it eve before I get to my driveway, works every time! I have a 13 year old Genie screw drive. Probably the antenna on the opener, I make sure might hangs down from the unit all the time.

Mine work great, had a problem with initially connecting to the garage door opener but I think that was more operator error

The remote opener that clips to the visor in my DD works from a reasonable distance.

I have to wait until I'm literally in front of my driveway, ready to back into the garage, before the Homelink button in the Camaro will open the garage door.

Won't be a problem at all in my 2019 seeing as they just flat out removed it!
