He updated his Facebook feed. He had a wastegate vacuum line come off and an overboost situation. Something like 28+psi(maxed the sensor). He now has some repairs to do. :(

Was 950ish hp at 17 psi still sorting out the tune.

Hey guys sorry for lack of update

Ok so didn't go as planned, but things are looking good so far.

We were on 17lbs doing well and going to make another cleanup on the tune pass to see where things were,
appreantly the tubing used on nice push to connect quick connect fittings didn't like the heat going on by the compressor housing which caused the tubing to come out of the fitting from turbo going to wastegate. This caused the turbo to moon boost maxing out the 2.5bar map sensor (25lbs) and had the back pressure gauge reading 58lbs (car had been at 2:1 ratio with the 1.32 ar housing this whole time) so we're expecting boost went around 28lbs of boost or so.

Where the rub is with this is timing had not been set for higher boost yet and we were still on timing for 17/18lbs so cylinder pressure went through the roof causing heads to lift blowing water out the overflow tank and pushing out out of what seamed to be just about every seal on the block.

Called INS and car was flat bed to HPC in Houston where Elie is going to pull engine, and go over it make sure all internals are g2g (they should be), replace seals, gaskets, etc as needed.

while it is out i'm going to swap on my 1.58ar turbine to drop bp down to hopefully about 1.5:1 and have things in a happier spot. In reality this thing makes TRQ like so much trq I can give some away for charity and still have enough to kick ass....

Full boost is about 3000-3500rpm, peak trq is at 4500 and had we got to cleanup the tune a bit more we should have got dam near right at 1000wtrq and high 900 whp on the 17lb run we were doing next.

Here is graph of run prior to the overboost
Uncorrected
Corrected SAE
and Compared to one of my customers cars that has hands down the most ideal turbo kit that can be had.

Rob Baxter ZL1 Twin Turbo topmount, full ceramic coated, with turbo blankets, 6766 billet ball bearing turbos.

Robs dyno here is at 20lbs of boost, 376ci, he is stick car and dyno is a mustang

my car is 17lbs of boost 416, auto on dyno jet

The comparison is not a hp comparison it is to show that a bs rear mount turbo kit can perform on a level of a top contending top mount kit.
Note kit on my car is mild steel piping to turbo (2.25" y pipes of oem headers, 2.5" to turbo roughly 15 total feet), not even ceramic coated. Turbo is Billet S488 Race Borg Warner ($2050 shipped from Forced Inductions). 2.5" aluminum charge pipes to intercooler (roughly 12-15ft of pipe). Huge front mount intercooler, 3" pipe from ic to engine bay stepped up to 3.5" to tb. All in all about 20ft of charge pipes in my car. The trick to rear mount is large single turbo TWIN SCROLL housing with a quick spool valve.

Robs cars the manifolds are about 12-18" runners top mounts, less than 4 ft of charge pipe total with air water intercooled intake manifold.

Being that I build all the parts on both cars I can talk openly and freely about it.

My goal is to show the world that rear mount can be a top contender and even though I just got set back another 1-2 weeks as it gets rnr. I am coming with a Vengeance aiming for a 160-165mph trap speed to really put the turbo game on the top.

Issues with my car are being addressed.

**** fancy push to connect fittings and lines on the turbo/wg/bc system. Good ole silicone rated for 450F....

Swapping to lsx valve covers with ict billet adapters, going to run 1.5" ports off each valve cover to the catch can, no more bs 8an baby lines.

Bigger turbine to get Back Pressure in check a tad more, 2:1 isn't bad but 1.5:1 is even better, I have the trq to lose down low, I would trade 100trq down low for 100 on the top and really push those hps to the roof.

To be totally fair, rear mounts and remote mounts have been proven time and time again. It only becomes a challenge when you really start pushing the limits (and with a 416 and that turbo you're not even close). The only people who are nay sayers either can't look at builds for what they are, don't understand turbos/engines, or are trying to sell you something more expensive.

Other than that godspeed dude.
