Key fob peeling

Mainly want to see if it’s ok to continue peeling off this layer off the key

I mean it might be a little late now to be asking that...?

It's just a coating to give it a matte finish and soft touch feel.

I would bet the coating was applied in sub-prime conditions, causing it to fail prematurely.

Once it's off, the material underneath probably won't hold up that long.

+1 with Bobkd. My previous Silverado I leased has the same issue. A couple months later, the lock/unlock symbols rubbed off completely. Then noticed my key was starting to have the same issue. I went on amazon and bought a couple key fob covers
