Need Honest Opinion

Would like honest opinions on whether or not this is cheesy....

Kinda liked the aftermarket fuel door covers, but at $160 I really didn't feel any were worth it.

I started playing around with CAD and 3D printed a concept:

Printed in ABS, sanded and sprayed with Flex Seal. I had designed in a pocket to put a GM Certified "SS" emblem, and I put in Stainless 8/32 Cap Screws for accent.

3M taped it to the existing fuel door. Only have garage pics cuz it was dark when I finished, but it gives the idea:

Thanks!

I just got my place in line for one of these.
Would have loved to see something Fireball related on the fuel door.

EDIT: I just re-read the thread. Nice work! Definetly be in business if we could refine the shape a bit.
I'm no expert but maybe you could sand it down gradually into something different & paint that.

Its not bad. I think it looks a touch thick but other than that, nice work.

The design is good but the texture does not match.

Fundamentally, there's nothing wrong with it but, you need to do finish work on it. Clean it up a bit and hit it with some satin black paint and try to gauge opinions again.

It would look good on a truck/jeep/hummer, maybe?

Thanks for the input.

Like I had mentioned, this was just a first rough concept, so it has large, visible facets that I didn't bother to sand down. The texture paint was handy to give it an even look.

When I get some time I will play with it some more. I think it needs to be flatter, smoother, and with a smaller "SS"

Personally, I don't get any of these fuel door covers/caps....not sure why you want to attract attention to that part of the car and interrupt the cars design flow.

Not a fan of bringing attention to the fuel door. It was cool back in the day when they were on the rear decklid and it was an intended design.
