ZL1 PRICES PLUMETING HARD

I wanted to sell or trade my car in and was offered 58-62. I only bought the car because I saw used ZL1s selling for MSRP on new ones or higher. I want to trade it for a Tahoe, dealer said maybe 60k WoW.

Sounds like the dealer was just trying to crush you. But prices on used cars are starting to plummet

Several dealers, Even tried to try my luck on the big car selling sites-Wrong
This car had over a 71k MSRP and has never been abused-900 miles. 60k, Ill burn it before I trade for that. I am kinda wishing I would have bought a HEllcat-they are really holding their Values.

Yeah no trade in prices are all subject to how hard the dealer wants to screw you. There are still very few to no new ZL1's available to buy and used ones back to 2019 and more are still selling for their original sticker. If I were to trade in my 21 ZL1, I'd take no less than sticker for it at least - and that was before I put on the maggie. Now i'd sell it for $10k over its sticker for a built maggie 21 ZL1.

Here's an example of a used one right now.

CPO Crush MANUAL ZL1 with 11k miles for $73k...lol

Oh and I had a 21 hellcat before this ZL1. You got the right car. They are junk for quality now. No where near what the ZL1 is.

They might be holding their value, but not for long.

I’m not surprised at all at some lowball offers these scam dealers will pull real quick on potential buyers .. they were the same dealerships forcing addons and markups so I’d avoid them at all costs. I dealt with many dealerships trying to get my ZLE so I saw the really ugly side of the business and the rare good dealers out there. Hopefully people stop giving business to piece of shit dealers that were taking advantage of people a year ago, but sadly there are a lot of suckers out there and the dealers know that.

Hellcat's are not holding value either. People may be trying to sell them for more than they're worth but they aren't getting those prices.

A car (any car) is never ever a safe place to park your cash. Buy it for enjoyment (how ever that meets your needs) and accept that you’ll never see all of your money back. That’s just the car business.

Having said that, all of the above are correct. Prices on used cars are definitely falling back to reality.

You bought an American muscle car as an investment?

Also I don’t think the Hellcats are going to hold their value any better. Besides the powertrain they are awful cars. 797 horsepower in a rental car chassis on 275 section tires? no thanks.

I've owned 3 of them, they're actually very well built cars but they're overproduced which is going to drive the resale value down on them.

Something important to remember: When trading in a car on another car (new OR used), in most jurisdictions, you pay sales tax on only the DIFFERENCE.

So, if you trade in a $60k car on an $80k car, you pay sales tax on $80k minus $60K = $20k.

If you instead sell your car separately for $60k, and buy the new one for $80k with no trade, you pay sales tax on $80k.

BIG difference in tax paid!

For example, if the sales tax in your jurisdicitonis only 5% (which is a low rate these days), you would pay $4k in sales tax versus $1k if you traded.

The suv I traded in for my ZL1 is still on the dealership used car lot. Priced just $1,000 over what I received on trade. I bought the ZL1 with supplier discount so there wasn't any overallowance. A Cadillac dealership near me only had maybe 2 dozen cars and suv's on the lot a couple of months ago now pretty much has their lot filled with new vehicles. Easily a couple hundred now.

I am seeing them stack up. We trade quite a bit, fixing to stop that, wasting money. My dealership is shopping the ZL1 now, if he will give me 69k its a done deal. Car is pretty loaded, all the Carbon bits, NO SUNROOF plus a few things I added, very suttle. MSRP was over 71k in 22, be 74,885k now. Plus the grand on ceramic coat.
