Battery replacement

Hello,
Could we have problems if we replace an AGM battery with a lead one?

Well, if you change the battery type anyway, why not go with a lightweight lithium one (such as Antigravity)?

For the price, the weight for me does not matter.
The question is: Could I have defects by replacing an AGM battery with a lead acid one?

I'm sure they chose the absorbed glass mat for safety concerns and its better tech, less likely to spray acid everywhere in an accident. Not sure why you'd want to do this but whatever you do make sure it has an external vent, hydrogen sulfide gas and metals don't play well and its flammable.

AGM batteries ARE lead batteries, but they are not "flooded". They do perform differently and here's how:

https://www.interstatebatteries.com/...s-the-big-deal

So why not use an AGM battery?

My battery only lasted 3 years, but I don't ride much, 7456 miles in 3 years
Can we do a reset, I have electrical problems, I have certain parts that no longer work or are bad.
Ex: radio no sound, the doors no longer close, the trunk no longer opens, etc...
Sorry to reply so late, but I don't receive a notification when a reply is posted.

AGM and flooded cell have slightly different optimal charging voltage. I don't know if our car can be set for a specific type.

Reset - Disconnect the battery. Plenty of info that that will fix a lot of electrical issues.

I unplugged it for an hour, and I'm still having electrical problems.

Modern cars are "always on" and AMG batteries are better for that. I can't imagine what the sales meant when he said that you don't need AMG if you don't drive in stop and go situations.

Regarding your short battery life, there are many factors. The most obvious is long intervals of not using the car. Since your car has circuits that are always on, the battery discharges over extended down-time and its life is shortened. Use a battery tender to keep the battery charged. This is particularly important in cold storage conditions.

Excessive heat also shortens battery life, but that's less likely to be a factor since the battery is in the trunk, away from the engine.

A lot of electrical problems happen when the battery is weak. Logic circuits give erroneous results when the voltage fluctuates. Although logic circuits are connected to voltage regulators, the regulators cannot overcome extreme voltage drops due to a weak battery.

I would not bother trying to save money buying a non-AGM battery.

In my personal experience, my first Camaro AGM battery was replaced after 7 years, as soon as I began seeing a spurious traction contour error message. At that point, the car was still starting but the charging voltage was always pegged at the maximum. My Camaro sits in storage for 6 months in the winter and is connected to a battery tender.

In my daily driver cars, batteries typically fail completely in 4 to 5 years.

Try 24 hours and check the battery with a proper tester while it's disconnected. If the problems persist and the battery isn't dead, I'd check body control module fuses both under the hood and in the trunk.

Trying to save a bit of money with a non-AGM battery is not something I'd do. The salesman was probably alluding to the fact that the alternator charges very slowly in these cars and driving a lot in stop-and-go traffic translates to a lot of idling, leading to an even lower charging rate.

In my experience, connecting a trickle charger whenever the car sits for weeks helps preserve the battery, which would be advised in this case especially since you drive the car so little.

Only if it has a vent hose connection.
