This exactly.

You either do it all (cage, harness, real race seat, no airbags, HANS device) or do none of it and run 100% stock.

My dilemma is that I still need a back seat for my kid.

AND

Some of the clubs I run require a HANS device for advanced groups. I’m not a huge fan of the hybrid, so for me a 4PT belt + HANS III is the happy medium. This way I keep my back seat, I have a HANS and I can run advanced groups.

I’m not a safety expert; however, having heard from a few, I was told the HANS device is designed to be used with racing belts due to lack of movement when you’re strapped in. In stock seat belts, the seat, airbag, and seatbelt are designed to move so you don’t snap your neck etc… anyways long story short, a HANS device provides little to no advantage with stock set belts and safety systems. That’s why there are virtually no models for factory belts. It’s just not needed.

I too was looking to up my safety gear and setup as I also run in an advanced group. What I was advised by folks that know was you do it all or do none of it. Modifying the factory systems makes it less safe. I was also told the HANS device isn’t needed with factory seatbelts and could even be dangerous with an airbag.

I agree, I do feel kind of silly wearing a Hans while using a 4PT harness made out of the same streachy material seat belts are made out of. But that’s the rule some of my run groups have.

I run the Simpson Hybrid S with my OE 3 point. I believe it is the only head and neck restraint spec'd for use with OE 3 points and 4,5,6 point harnesses. Remember, air bags are calibrated for non-helmeted noggins. Adding a helmet adds weight. There is no harm in using one.
