Thank You sledgehammer for the post.

1500 miles goes by quicker than we tend to think. Especially the first month of a new car. I drive 300 miles a week so it will fly by for me and I live in florida so low elevation and no snow. I will be doing a 500 mile oil change too. Curious anout the rear end flush as it is the first time I have seen it mentioned in a break in guide.

After reading the manual and talking with my friends who own c7s (LT1 and our break in literally being the same), I am going to be changing the oil filter itself @ 500ish miles and let the oil stay there till about 1500 miles then do an oil change.

Pretty sure dealerships are offering a couple oil changes for free. Not sure if this is specific to certain brands or dealerships. Wifes new Subaru gets 2 free from the dealership.

Irregardless I plan to do a 500 mile oil change. Then again at 1500 mi. I don't care if it's useless or not needed. I plan to keep this car for 10 years+. I'm going to baby the car during break in and attempt to treat her well to ensure the longevity of the powetrain.

My dealer offers free oil changes for the life of the car as long as I own it.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that! It's your car, your money that you are spending on the oil change or using up the free oil change. All up to you and it will be uber safe doing so!

We get 4 oil changes from Chevy and it is all Dexos 1 5w-30. A good choice for an oil but it is still a side brand of Mobil 1. I will be switching to Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic and not use Dexos.

Mobil1 is Dexos certified oil. My dealer I believe still uses Mobil 1 for Camaros and Corvettes, at least that was done for a long time in the past.

Yep, it is a move for cost cutting. Nothing but the BEST from a dealerships for my baby though. I used MOTUL for a long time and honestly MOBIL 1 vs MOTUL the only difference was that the car did much better on a track... For regular driving and spirited driving on the streets... Mobil 1 does the job just fine lol

I will be ordering my camaro from a dealership almost 2 hours away from me (115 miles one way) so doing this on the way home will be very difficult. Odds are I will ride the right lane and fluctuate speeds between 60-75 mph to keep it from being constant but it will be somewhat difficult.

Regarding the first oil change I'll be doing it around 500 ish miles also and once again after 1500 miles. And I will be getting rid of skip shift as soon as possible lol

Take every exit and onramp on the way home

Make sure you pass at least one guy between every exit... will confuse the heck out of him... "Dang, I've seen like thirty new blue Camaros blow by me on this highway..."
