Engine shut off is a safety feature so it does not overheat.

i will know more when i speak with the mechanic in person. Im going to be pushing for an extended power train warranty just incase anything internal did get affected.

Ill give another update once i get it.

Awesome news! And don't blame you for pushing for an extended warranty. First, GM should not have left the car leave the factory that way and the dealership obviously didn't do a good job on the PDI.

Yea!! Thats my thoughts.

The car is home now and in the garage beside her older sister. But what a ruined experience that was last night..

It was just a rad hose that wasn't fully pushed in by the factory and it came loose from the bumps prolly..

Ill be going to see the Service and Sales managers on Monday since they were both not at the dealership today when I picked it back up.

See what they can offer me and hopefully can make things right.

I understand it might not have been their fault.. But when you pay 2k for a PDI you should be able to expect the car is good to go!

The mechanic that worked on it today said there should be no internal damages but he said ask for the world because the worst they can say is no.

They did also contact GM. I guess they have to when there is an issue like that. My dad worked at GM for over 40 yeas and said that it should stir some stuff up at the plant a little.. Hopefully thats true because i wouldnt want anyone else to have to have that experience.

Also when i picked it up there was still rad fluid all down the side of the car and on the back and such.. Thankfully the car was ceramic coated so when i got home i rinsed it right away and it all just ran off.. I detailed it after and its beauty again. But something they also should have done.

The dealership has been fantastic though so far and they feel absolutely horrid and im not trying to bash them or anything at all.. Just extremely frustrating.. See how Monday goes!

Hopefully it was just an isolated incident. Glad you and the car made it home safe. Doesn't make it any less frustrating. I don't know what I would have done under yourcircumstances, especially since I picked my car up from a dealership 5 hours away from where I live.

Yeah, I was one of the first 20 GTO’s ordered in late 2003 prior to the 2004 release. It was supposed to be Impulse Blue Metallic with a blue interior. Literally a 1,000 cars were built before mine and we could never get a straight answer from GM. Sad part is my Dad worked for GM for 35 years and we still couldn’t get a straight answer from Holden/GM. I finally cancelled my order.

I bought my first CTS-V from DeLorean Cadillac (yes, John DeLorean’s brother). Those cars had so much promise with the LS6. The rear diff’ let them down. I grenaded 6 of them in 2 different CTS-V’s and switched to SRT8’s. My last made 725rwhp until we ran out of fuel so we detuned it to 650rwhp. Ran 10.70’s all day long and kept it until the odometer hit 115K…..no issues, just wanted to switch back to GM.

Still a little salty about the GTO, but in hindsight, those 2004’s turned out to be turds and the 6.0’s were the ones to buy.

Yeah you dodged a bullet with that GTO. I, too, was about to order one. Ended up finding a mint 2000 Z/28 M6 with almost no miles for $14K. I regretted nothing.
