So here is a fine example. I had a 2021 Silverado Ltz with 6.2. I bought it for about 55,000 and sticker was over 58,000. I traded it in on my new 2022 3.0 Ltz and got 54k on trade. Got my personal property tax for 2021 and it went up 700 bucks from the year before. They get pricing from NADA based on the Vin # to figure the tax rate. I called them on it and they told me that NADA had my 2021 priced out at 61,000, 3000.00 over the sticker and 6,000 more then I paid. The dealer ended up selling but for just 1000 more than they gave me. How do I know, I know these guys very well and I've bought 40 vehicles from them. So, to the point is stuff got way over priced and now we all get to suffer for it. Mine was in taxes and some will suffer because they paid too much. My dealers lot is also full and now with rates higher they are sitting on a big inventory going into winter. The chip shortage that started at the end of 2019 really screwed everybody.

Not surprising to me. Used car and truck prices are coming down now.

When I was buying the CT4V Blackwing they wanted $50k over sticker. I was able to buy it at MSRP but I had to let them make some money of the ZL1 trade. That said, the used market has been tanking since that deal took place and the ZL1 still isn't sold yet.

prices are all over the place on silverado's so bet camaros are the same, luckly i got my22 ZL1 last year just under msrp, depending on area of country and area inventory new and used now days seems way different.
my 19 silverado, nada trade 45k, kbb trade 40k, carvana 30k as of today dealers in ny on new 23 silverado half are marked up still 3-5k, head south VA or further 23's are 3500-5k below msrp definately a crap shoot it seems on all cars/trucks. i like to trade/buy every few years but thinking sitting back and seeing what happens for another 6-12 months. |

I would highlight this post. He’s willing to sell a ZL1 at 40k that should tell you everything you need to know. There are 5th gen ZL1s with 20kmiles selling for over $40k

They won't make this car for much longer and we already know the Hellcat is done. Guys don't want electric "performance" cars; they want a V8. When you can't buy those anymore, prices will go up. |

Road congestion is sapping the fun out of driving manual transmissions and as the newer auto technologies come to market I think the younger generations will value AI, fancy display/gauge clusters, smooth silent instant power delivery, one pedal driving, low operation cost, etc. more than the V8 soundtrack. These younger folks will have no reference or care about V8 noises. V8 torque is being replaced by EV, Hybrid or powerful low lag turbo based power trains. Soon we will have hybrid C8 Corvettes, which will further minimize the negative stigma of hybrid/electric powertrains.

One thing you have to look out for are dealers that are going into KBB and using the instant trade offer. Which is a lot lower than the actual trade in value and I believe to be actual fraud since you, the seller, needs to put in the info. Not the dealer.
I had a dealer do that to me with my 2019 Silverado LT that i wanted to trade in on another truck. They wanted to give me $38k for almost year old, $52k truck. I actually paid around $45k for it with all the rebates that trucks use to have. Either way, I explained what they were looking at and told the sales person that this is the instant trade offer, which I did not consent to you using, and they came back with the $43k trade in that the truck actually had on kbb. |
