should I go E85 (E40-e50) on a track car?

I'm torn on if I should keep mixing 100 oct ($10/gal) with our shitty 91 here in AZ (doing about 95 oct) or switch to e85.

The car is mostly a HPDE car unless the wife takes it out for a cruise. Mods to the engine are 2.3 upper, kooks headers / exhaust, mamo v2, rotofab and tune.

I understand ill get worse gas mileage but at the same time I'm fine with using E85 for track days and then Just putting 91 in it any other time. I'm just wonderin g if the fuel system can handle going e85 or if I'm going to be running out of fuel.

I use octanium at $23 from autozone in every tank. Gets me from 93 to close to 98ish.

Just a tank or two turns them orange.

As for the OP E is probably the best thing you could do for this car. With saying that though, just know that you'll be burning through E like crazy on the track.

Agreed. I could usually get away with a full tank of gas for an event and just fill up on the way home. Switching to E ill have to bring 1-2 5 gal cans

You're able to complete a full track day of 3-4 sessions on 1 tank? I've never been able to do that.

If you already have all these mods, you should definitely tune with E85. It's so much cheaper than race gas and could get you more power than mixing in 100 oct.

Only things stopping me from running E85 are my warranty, and the fact that I don't yet need more power on track. I've only met one ZLE driver who could actually use more power on a road course, who wouldn't benefit a lot more from improved turning/braking skills.

I have the JRE125 package and run 93 and E60 on the track as far as consumption I git in a habit to run 1/2 to full tank all the time.

I'm sure the track lengths are different than there. Usually I'll have a full tank at the beginning and by the time I'm done and get the gas station the gas light should be coming on or close to.

Keep it at E45 or so and everything works great. Get a flex fuel sensor, tune (Jannetty does well with a remote tune), and ethanol% gauge. Works great on track, makes more hp, and burns clean. E85 is considerably cheaper than 100 octane which is a plus.

Do you only go 1 time? I run on a nearly 2.3 mile course in 5 , 20 minute sessions. I'll go though a full tank after 2 full sessions and partway through the 3rd. My car is fully stock too.

I'd swap to E over adding 100 octane. As it's been said, it is cheaper but you'll burn through it faster.

Same here. I typically use just over half a tank of 93 per session on track. I'll do session 1 on a full tank, add a couple of (overpriced) gallons at the track for session 2, fill up at a local station during lunch, rinse and repeat for session 3 & 4. Overall, just over 2 full tanks per track day on 93. Sounds like E would burn up a bit more quickly. I may have to hit up Ted for a JRE125 package to find out for myself

Worth it all day... You are not going to burn through it as fast mixing it in the E40 range... E40 is 100octane, E50- 103 octane, E60- 106 octane, Full E85- 110 octane. Also, Ethanol will tolerate higher IAT's without needing to pull timing so you will make more power consistently.

Can we add like a gallon to a full tank of 93 to increase octane a bit?

That'd only raise the octane level to 93.8 while already creating a blend of E14, I wouldn't do it. Install a flex fuel kit and a tune to be able to use E properly instead of this hackery (probably not E85 since you have forced induction, but even E40-50 should help a lot).
