anyone removed factory wrap on ZL1 1LE hood?

Curious if anyone has removed the factory wrap on a ZL1 1le hood. Curious if the hood is matching factory paint. Not a fan of the hood wrap.

Mines off no issues with paint once you polish it up

I agree... One of the reasons I didn't buy a 2SS 1LE was the black wrapped hood... Looked like primer... That and I didn't want the M6 as this car will eventually become my daily driver in SoCal traffic...

If I could have gotten the 1LE without all the black and an A10, I would have happily spent the $7k... I LOVE the 1LE wheels/tires...

There are some really nice matte black Vwrap products that I have had impressive results with. Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte Detailer and Spray Sealant works really well. A quick spray and micro fiber wipe after wash makes it look like new. The wife's hair dryer works really well to seat the edges where it ends to peel.

I digress, I have a buddy down the block who removed the Vwrap from his 2017 SS 1LE, hood was paint matched.

Warrior102 do you have some pics of your car? I have the same one and I can’t tell if I like the wrap or not. Tossing around the idea of taking it off.

Has anyone that has removed the matte vinyl hood wrap, had any issues with it pulling off the paint? Did you use heat to remove it? Thx!

I removed mine on a hot sunny day in August, peeled right off. Open the hood, pull the plastic push pins holding the liner, remove the 8 - 10mm (don't recall) nuts holding the vents, grab an edge and start peeling. This time of year a bit of heat would probably be needed, a hair dryer would probably suffice. The hood was pretty free of adhesive, there was a bit around the edges easy removed with alcohol.

If you change your mind any car wrap shop can replace it for short money, if I were to ever replace it (not likely) I would go with a satin rather than the flat black.

Thanks, I like the satin version too and may end up going that route.

Man, this is one friendly forum! We keep happily answering the same question that has been asked in several other threads. Other forums I have used always have people make snarky remarks demanding the OP try searching. Driving a nice car is clearly helping our collective moods
