19-20 tail lights on a 16-18 camaro

has anybody put the 19-20 style tail lights on a 16-18 camaro because according to gen5diy the car needs some things to be modified here is what they said "Installing the taillights is not a direct replacement as body components must also be replaced"

I have no idea what that means

I believe you’d need the rear bumper cover as well.

Appears you need the 19-20 bumper cover. If you compare the two housings, the 16-18 has a flat bottom and the 19-20 has different shape. Just look below.

I found out this past weekend, you have to pull the rear bumper cover off a 2019 first to remove the tailights.

There’s a YouTube video floating around of a company designing “2019 style” taillights for 16-18s. Coplus is the company iirc

what ever happen to the helix company that was floating around the internet and camaro-related parts websites.
(because they had the 16-18 style dark tail lights)

Their products are still being sold, i recently picked up their sequential tailights.
