NOW we are back on topic lol.
I don't disagree. I know he playing the hand he is being dealt; I think to stay in the "recommended" or "watch next" on YouTube, he needs to be producing videos like this. YouTube loves gossip, drama, etc.

I hope some of what he says is true. I'm sure he will keep producing helpful content in the future, but he is certainly capitalizing on the current "Camaro Future" drama.

Lethal has been a member of this community for a long while, and I certainly agree with Martinjlm above.

I think his car (I assume he still has the white 2016 model...I dunno) was built in October 2015...same as my car.

At the moment are you kidding me? He has been doing this for the past 3+ years now. Not one thing that I can recall he claimed was coming from gm has been correct yet. The only times he is correct just happens to be when he puts out a video only after gm confirms changes etc. The guy needs to stick to his DIY videos because quite frankly he has no clue what he's talking about.

IMO we've screwed ourselves by allowing 3rd world countries to live in poverty for decades, of course it's a very complex problem but the population of modern, well educated countries tends to level off while in the 3rd world they tend to grow much faster. In any case the end result is far too many people in the world living in unsustainable ways because we've been unwilling or unable to help lift people out of poverty and educate them.

It's getting to the point we can't deny the effects of climate change, it's causing massive changes in weather. My home was less than 2 miles away from the Marshall Fire in CO that just burnt down almost 1000 homes. We've been in drought with the strangest weather I've ever seen since I moved here in '92. Months of oddly warm weather with lots of wind and NO rain or snow. The last 2 summers have had weeks of wildfire smoke in the air. Earth is becoming a far less hospitable place to live. As a result we're going to see panic and unreasonable knee-jerk policy that doesn't really address the basic issues and tries to maintain our current system without major changes that are really required.
There is no way to really majorly change the lifestyle of people in developed countries, IMO, without cause major social disruptions.

It's just too complicated to talk about, so I won't expand on it further.

How about Hydrogen ICE engines? Hydrogen ICE can run with zero to super low CO2 emissions, and make tons of ICE power. How's this for combustion rumble?...

https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/inde...E_test_A-1.ogv
Objectively, there isn't much reason to use hydrogen ICE over hydrogen fuel cell. The latter is more efficient and also doesn't emit NOx gases. Yep, air is 70+% nitrogen, so if you burn it with a fuel at a high enough temperature, there will be NOx. No way around it. It's the argument of BEV vs. ICE here, except hydrogen fuel cell won't even have the charging time disadvantage. Subjectively, though, I get it.

Several manufacturers have tried this. Mazda even had a rotary engine that can switch between gasoline and hydrogen at one point and had a fleet of experimental RX-8s powered by it.

The bigger issue here, though, is just how fussy hydrogen is when it comes to infrastructure and manufacturing. First of all, this stuff is hard to get on the Earth, which is ironic since it is the most abundant element in the whole universe. Most of hydrogen comes from natural gas steam reformation right now. Granted, natural gas is cleaner than a lot of other fossil fuels, but it's still a fossil fuel. Electrolysis is way too energy intensive for it to take the lead.

On the infrastructure side, well you gotta transport the hydrogen gas which is going to be less efficient than high-voltage wires (that BEV relies on). Storage is a pain because you gotta compress it to make storage more efficient but that takes up energy and you need to have suitable containers for that. And it will still slowly leak.

Really, you only see some Japanese manufacturers messing around with hydrogen fuel cell because it works in their domestic market where parking is a PITA. Many other markets in the world are more invested in BEV.

Again, I don't believe he has any real source of inside news. I have mentioned this before: no one will risk losing their job or worse, getting an army of lawyer on their tail because they broke their non-disclosure agreement just so some dude on YouTube (70k subs aren't nothing, but also not that big) can share it with everyone. He knows as much as we do, period.

Back on topic, like UnknownJim, the problem with rumormill news nowadays is that it's so easy to just put out a "story" about what MIGHT be coming w/o citing any source whatsoever...

Going back and correcting it later in the future? Nahhhh....but those instant Youtube clicks for people thirsty for information (and they will believe ANYTHING they see on the internets) are worth a fortune to these guys.

Yea, on the internet you can always say the rumor is... or even make a wild claim and say that you cant reveal your source. YouTube is absolutely FULL of clickbait.

Mine also, picked it up January 2016. Many of us have been on here almost from the beginning. I know him pretty well as we've hung out at the Camaro Fest. He had a Whipple and I had a Maggie so we did a little racing at the Fest. He's a good guy.

This is the problem though. He's using the good graces he has built up here over the years to spready clickbaity misinformation, only to try and remain relevant on youtube.

Just like with sales, I'm sure demand for Camaro content on youtube has dwindled so in order to get views, he's got to come up with some "WILD BREAKING NEWS" regarding what's supposedly coming to keep people interested.

This is what I have a problem with. I was raised that if you don't know if it's true, then keep your effing mouth shut. He has put out so much misinformation lately that it has the community confused and in some cases, fooled. If he really cared about this community, he wouldn't be doing this. It's 100% selfishness and no matter what he did in the past, he gets no passes from me for doing this now.

Very good points sir. The “attaboy” / “aw shit” dilemma played out in real time.

I think a big reason this is not happening is that GM just released the CT5V Blackwing with the LT4 and this is GMs new star 4 seat performance machine and standard bearer. Why would they show up the Cadillac with an LT5 Camaro? Next they'd have to re-engineer and cram the LT5 into the CT5VB only a couple of years after releasing it.

Also, a 750 HP ZL1 1LE with some additional suspension and tech changes to support the LT5 would look better to a lot of ppl facing years waiting for a 670 HP Z06 at reasonable price. You can buy a 2022 ZLE right now at MSRP or less if you hunt around.

IMO GM would not risk their product marketing strategy by taking attention off the CT5VB and C8 Z06.

I also think this is all super unlikely, but there's one point I want to make, you assume "GM" works as a single large entity and does what's the best for that single entity—well, that is a big assumption.

In my experience large companies have warring or at least intensely competing factions each fighting for their own projects and roadmaps and budgets, so the fact that an updated Camaro may steal Cadillac's thunder isn't necessarily reason enough for "the company" not to do it.
