Tune is slightly different on the 19-ups, more crackles and pops than 17-18s

And I suppose the oil pump was replaced in the 2019+ MY?

I think it was really a cost cutting measure. Other manufactures started to do it since they were tired of paying the Homelink licensing fees. Furthermore, many of the newer garage door openers have WiFi, cell phone apps and the trusty old fashioned opener. That said, I prefer the built-in Homelink for the clean look and easy of use.

Same here and I agree on the cost cutting, too. In the case of the Camaro, there was also a space/connectivity problem with the overhead console, so GM would have had to redesign that section, which may also have helped tip the scales the wrong way.

I recently had a new wide garage door installed, and the sales guy told me there is literally no opener in the product range they offer that does not support WiFi and remote access. Now I'm not a fan of this, I don't want to fumble with my phone just to open or close the door, they should offer at least an AA/Carplay app so it would feel more integrated (does anyone know why there are so few AA apps to begin with?)

Oh, and neither do I want remote access to my house via a garage door opener backed by a who-knows-how-secure server side infrastructure.

OP, sorry for the mild diversion, I promise not to post anything more into your topic unless it's a genuine ZL1 model year change Actually, I'm sure the PDR was upgraded along with the rest of the screens/cameras to 1080p, so that should qualify.

Haha. All good, Arpad. I am really disappointed losing the integrated garage controls. Seems like a minor issue, but after a year of owning a car WITHOUT IT, I missed it a ton.
And, Ill take any information I can get! The oil pump issue was one I was definitely wondering about.

Thanks There definitely is a new oil pump part number since 2019, so it is different, but I can't find what the actual changes were.

So 2019+ sounds like it just went from “preferred” to NECESSARY.
Especially seeing as how 17/18s are out(or soon out) of warranty.

Having owned a 20 LT1 and now a 18 ZL1. This would have to be factual, I’ve also heard you can’t really tune the 20 TCMs either except maybe Houston House of Power claims they can. There is also a burble tune from the factory on the downshifts for the 20 LT1 that is not on my 18 ZL1. ZL1 no burbles at all

Nobody can tune the T93 TCM.

Houston House of Power found a way to swap it out for an old T87A and make the rest of the system accept it.

This is what I kind of suspected.. I think it’s remarkable and also somewhat tragic that you can’t crack it. That being said I’m glad I have a setup that can be tuned now..
