headroom an issue with helmet?
i test drove a new SS several weeks back and tried to gauge if my big head would fit in there with a helmet on. i have a ton of space in my current M3 and can adjust the seat how i want to be positioned based on my relationship (intimate) with the pedals/wheel. i've sat in cars with my helmet on before and noted that i had to recline the seat more than i wanted to fit my helmet on.
anyone notice this with your car? i'm 6'2", fairly normal leg/torso proportions i think. thanks for the input! |

Sunroof takes away some room.
I'm about 6ft on the dot and the car I sat in at the dealer I was skimming the roof until I adjusted the seat all the way down. With a helmet it would be hitting again. You're in trouble with a sunroof IMO. |

i did, in fact, go out and test drive a 1SS today. sitting in the 2SS with sunroof on the showroom floor i knew it would be a no-go. luckily the 1SS without a sunroof allows me enough space. phew. i was starting to picture myself replacing the seats....

Took my helmet to the dealer to try it out. I'm 5'11" . With sunroof it was tight but doable.
Ordered my 1SS without sunroof.

Order with out a sunroof... I had the same problem its perfect without plenty of room, Im 6ft. Plus the roof has cool curves you loose if you get a sunroof.

6'2, no sunroof and can fit in just fine with a helmet. I have the exo scorpion 500 motorcycle helmet. It isn't that comfortable but having a full on helmet in the car never is haha.

I will grab one of my snowmobile lids and try it out. A helmet is a helmet right.
I'm 6'4".....I think it will be tight.

Depends on leg vs torso height. 6'2 and there is plenty of room.

I have to recline the seat back a little, not all the way, but I can get a helmet on.
Only have a finger of space though. I could adjust my butt to get a little more maybe.....

I'm 6'7" tall and brought my helmet to the dealer when I went to check out a 2016 Camaro. Thankfully, I was able to fit comfortably for someone my size. Of course, this was a car with no sunroof, and I had the seat all the way down and back and fully reclined (as everyone knows, these seats don't recline very far though). But I still had headroom to spare.
It's definitely an improvement over the gen 5 Camaro. Even with the seat reclined more than I would have liked, my helmet was still pressed into the roof liner. I think I would have risked neck injury over a big bump. |
