BIG thanks to Glen e!

I'm posting this here because a lot of people probably don't check out the cosmetic maintenance forum where Glen e lives and I want to tell them they should. For those who haven't seen Glen his forums signature has links to a bunch of documents he created on how to maintain your finish and what products to use (and why) and where to get them. Well I finally got all the stuff he recommended and found some ambition to detail my own car today. I don't have an orbital polisher yet so these results are by hand but holy shit!

The first picture is my car right after a full detailing by my dealership. Which was nice. The last three pics are after following Glens instructions. No pressure washer, not even a garden hose. Just a bucket of soapy water, towels, and some products! This was just under two hours of effort. And my car was super dirty we just had that hurricane roll through here and I was out driving in that shit all saturday so my car was filthy. THANK YOU GLEN!!! I'm now a pro shade-tree detailer!

Thanks Ken, the documents written because I got so tired of being on several forms where people were taking all weekend to detail their car with 2 coats of this and 2 more of that. One of my detailing friends taught me that when things are easy, you'll do it more often.

And nobody seem to pay any attention to the new technology that's out these days that lets you do this in an afternoon, actually in half an afternoon! But most people continue to just use their old stuff and assume that it takes a monumental effort, it doesn't it need to be that way anymore......and it's not about some universal magic product, it's more about the tools and procedures that you use.

For sure! This was very easy. I'm looking forward to seeing the kind of results I can get with an orbital polisher! I like things clean, but I'm all about time efficiency. I don't have the patience to clean for half a day or more. Excellent guides!

Nice... so it's now a Super Hyper Blue!

Yes, I have thanked Glen many times for his docs and information. My cars will stay beautiful at a fraction of the cost of paying a pro detailer!

I've been detailing my own cars since I used to show classic cars so like 20-30 years!

The products have got a lot better over the years and so have the orbitals. I'm using a porter cable these days. The liquid polishes and waxes apply so quickly and effortlessly - I can do a whole car in a couple hours even if doing a 2-3 stage polish / wax job always starting with a clay bar.

I took the time to read through Glen's pdf documents and I am definitely going to start using his rinseless process.

I'm tired of dragging out a hose and all those buckets and all of the rest of the junk I've been using every week.

Thanks Glen!

This is exactly why I did it, get a screw on top and take your rinseless to the park! Here's what we did for a friend at our local watering hole at halftime:

I bought a PC 7424XP a few years ago and used it once and was discouraged. It took forever and while the car looked good, I couldn't justify the time spent and went back to hand application of things. I didn't mind polishing in itself, it was dealing with the pads that got annoying. You either have to buy a bunch or do the "cleaning on the fly" techniques I learned on Autogeek which frankly didn't work out to well for me (likely user error). So now the PC just collects dust unless I pull it out here or there to fix a scratch or something and I'm back to the old fashioned way.

These days I have less free time than ever so I don't know that I'll ever give it another go.

I'm convinced. I just ordered 128 oz. of Duragloss Rinseless Wash w/Aquawax and 12 high quality microfiber towels. Rinseless washing here I come!
