How is tuned atsv faster than zl1

Just watched a YouTube video of the fasterproms m6 atsv with basically a tune, drag radials, and downpipe Rip off a 10.7 in the 1/4 mile.
https://youtu.be/EMyB5Omdhwo
How is it that a 650hp m6 zl1 on drag radials can’t at least break into the high 10’s? I doubt that thing is making 650 even tuned. I get the zl1 has more torque but the fastest dr only m6 on the fast list is like 11.5. That’s a big difference

Fasterproms tune 19lbs of boost
Fasterproms 3" downpipes
Fasterproms thermal reduction plates
Fasterproms ram-air with drop in filters
Alkycontrol methanol kit
Drag radials
That's more than "basically a tune..."

Put a tune on the ZL1 and it probably would. Any factory 6th gen M6 car has bog issues off the line when you hook due to factory traction control shit in the tune. Get someone to remove that and they probably would go 10s...Most on the list probably haven't got the bog issue addressed. Most tuners don't know how to delete it, only a couple have figured it out.

They are riddled with torque management stock. Power is reduced on launch and on shifts

Didn’t look like a super hard launch. That car can go mid 10s IMO

Yes but my point is it still probably isn’t making more power than a STOCK zl1
And they weigh pretty close to the same. Both have no lift shift as well

That makes sense thanks for the reply

Good to know thanks for the reply, I would still rather take a zl1 over atsv but it was impressive how hard it runs for only those mods.

My M6 ATS-V made 609 WHP and 59x Ft/Lbs with Downpipes, intakes, valve springs, fueling cam, and E50/Flex (and obviously tuned)

i've gone 11.41@127 on R888s, and 11.19@126 on ET street R's with a crappy 1.72 60' battling torque management issues on the launch. the MPH is there for mid 10's for sure

the ATS-V is no joke. My co-worker Tim raced the road course, and the autocross at CamaroFest this year in his black V coupe and was hanging with ZL1s on the roadcourse, and i believe had the 3rd (might be wrong) fastest autocross time as well

My sedan weighs 3935 with me in it (3775 with no driver)

Would you mind sharing which tuners have figured it out?

Jeremy's ATSV is also pretty loud in person. Not sure there isn't a little bit of exhaust work there as well besides just the downpipe. His wife typically drives it and I've seen/heard it start up at Fasterproms shop and personally seen it run 10's at Bradenton. Impressive car.

I agree that a tuned M6 ZL1 would probably be very close to the 10s on drag radials in good air. The autos are hampered by severe computer intervention when the car hooks, the manual is way worse from what I've read. It has been tricky getting my car into the 1.6s on the street tires, but a handful of us have been able to do it. I think it would be difficult to get a 1.7, even on drag radials, with a manual.
