We have become so spoiled where we can discuss wanting a 450hp+ car to be under $40k. Not that I'm complaining. It's awesome, but we should keep some perspective. If you want 450hp+ from a non-American manufacturer you are going to pay at least $30K more.

I would agree with this to an extent. Fortunately for us we have benefited from GM's lack of advertising for the Camaro and the resulting low demand and dismal sales records for the last few years. The result is the bargain basement prices people were getting before the pandemic and vehicle shortage. Even after the pandemic and the shortage in effect you can still get one for sticker, no markup. On the opposite end is the Challenger. Those cars are bigger, don't handle as well from the factory, have slightly more power, a dated platform that has been around since 2008, and are beaten by the Camaro in every performance aspect. However thanks to Mother Mopar's great advertising and branding those things sell like hotcakes. When I was looking around last year I wanted a bare bones Scat Pack but every one I found was listed at $7K-$8K above sticker. Instead I went for the LT1 and for the first time in my life I paid MSRP and was actually OK with it.

I felt the same way about the ZL1 I bought. I never paid MSRP for a car in my life. I am a frugal person always trying to get those 15-20% off deals but the reality is compared to everything else available the ZL1 is a steal under $70k. A nicely equipped pickup truck costs $60-$70k. Hellcats are $85-$95k in my area. The Mustang Mach 1 is way over priced compared to an SS 1LE, which is a steal at under $50k MSRP.

Supras are $57k and selling for $5k over for a Toyota BMW mix.
Nissan Z looks pretty cool but you know they will be over sticker since supply will be low and delayed the launch already.

Get the SS or the SS1LE both have better handling than the LT1. They are better rides.

No doubt. Whether you purchase a LT1, SS or 1LE you are purchasing a great car for the money. I'm just not sure, at least for me, that I would purchase a highly optioned LT1 over an SS or 1LE. Of course I'd already made the decision to purchase my 1LE several months ago.

How often do you usually have to replace rear tires on the SS models?

SS Suspension is the same, tires would be the only thing, but thats something most people end up having to get anyways (winter tire setup for SS, or summer tire setup for LT1)

The LT1 and SS have the same FE3 Suspension until you add Mag ride to the SS or get the 1LE. This is per GM build sheets (was shown build sheet for a low option 1SS and my current LT1), manuals and brochures back in 2020 that I researched before getting my car.

Correct gentlemen, some folks who don't own an LT1 will just write it off as a v6 camaro with an LT1 engine swap. The truth is that the LT1 is basically a camaro SS dressed up as a v6 camaro. The only thing I wish my LT1 had from the 1LE is the front brakes. The stock SS 4 piston brembos do a good enough job, but I sure would prefer the 1LE 6 piston front rotors for those 130+mph slow downs.

The LT1's have the same size tires front and rear, but the SS models have larger rear tires.

I was wondering about what is the average life of the rear tires before replacement on the SS?

You can add the 6 piston front brakes to the LT1, as well as the 4 piston Brembos for the rear.

GM part numbers 84236462 and 84300395 respectively. Unless the brakes are different in 21 and 22 from 19 and 20, most sites only list fitment for 19 and 20 but I don't see what would have changed.

The only things I'm sad I can't swap on are the 2SS seats and the upgrade sound system. I know it's an option but I had to go with what was already ordered to avoid the '23 price increase and extended wait time.

I had to replace the rear tires and fronts around 12,000 miles on my 2016 2SS when I had it so it just depends on your driving habits. I did replace the run flats with performance summer tires which rode and handled better.

I thought the LT1 BRaking system was different enough in the rear that you couldn't retrofit?

I do wish I had the heated seats, but I am glad I get to choose my own spoiler. I am eventually going to get the GM High Wing.

I believe it is what is important to the buyer. I went with a Highly optioned LT1 for a couple of reasons. 1st - I am old school and back in the 60s and 70s the sleepers were the lowest model level cars with the biggest motor. I think the LT1 checked that box. 2nd - When looking at 2SS I really did not want all the led lighting... Heated seats are always nice though. Looking at 1SS with 1LE which was similar in price to my LT1 I did not want mag ride or E-Diff. I believe in KISS (Keep it simple stupid) To many electronics. Also 1SS was not available with the BOSE, which seemed strange, So I loaded up an LT1 with Bose and most performance parts that were available.

Bottom line all of the Camaros models with the LT1 motor are very capable cars and I am glad I grabbed one before they are gone.
