TIRES 345/30-19

Went with R888Rs 345/30-19 and Literally fell in love with them. At stock power level, these things are EVERYTHING I LOVE

Yes there loud, but the axel back drowns it out - there on back order 30-60 days out

A buddy suggested NT555R2s - online research and a few reviews are good, but there always 2nd choice comparing to R888Rs

I read one review where the user had both sets of tires and stated they 555s are unstable at high speeds - which is a DEAL BREAKER for me

Should I wait until I can get my hand's on a set of R888rs or give the 555r2s a try

What are you guys thoughts ???

a little eye candy for your suggestions

I've had mine on for about 2 years now. But yes other than the noise the 345s r888r are pretty bad ass with good straight line performance and no loss of grip in turns or high speed issues.

I would not rule out these tires either. only downside rain would be really sketchy worse than the r888r except for the 240 MPS

555R2 is always first choice over R888R. I can't live with the tire noise which will only get worse as they wear. I've run the 555Rs and the 55R2s neither are unstable at high speeds but the 555R2 has a stiffer sidewall which will make it handle better.

I had some R888R's on my C7Z. They get poor reviews from a lot of online tire reviewers but, they hooked and booked real well when I had them. If there was something that hooked that well but wasn't going to kill you in the rain, I'd likely get that. But, that's having your cake and eating it, too. I currently have MP4S tires on there and the straight line traction is not very good at all but, there was torrential rain out here the other day and I drove home without a single worry.

You can have your cake and eat it too with the 555R2. It won't do as well in the rain as a MPS4S but its certainly acceptable and many people have no complaints with them in the rain. Drive cautiously though as you should.

I've had the R888R on for two months. Once they are warm, they will hook on the road and strip. Yes, I can hear some whine, but my exhaust is loud so it's not an issue. I also have an order in for a set of 345 555Rii rears for the strip, but as everyone here knows, they and most Nittos are on backorder.

You end up in the guard rail trying to follow me over 160 mph in my favorite curve.. curves are just as enjoyable as straight line performance. This is the best all around tire.

Yeah. I agree with you there. I have largely sworn off Nitto tires in general but, I know how the Toyo's behave. I never pushed them as hard as you're implying but, I have certainly pushed them hard before. I just hate how unsafe they are in the rain.

Apologies if this has been covered somewhere else already, but how are the 555r2, cornering-wise, compared to the SC3Rs? I've heard how the PS4S give up a bit of cornering ability to the SC3Rs in favor of longevity, but I was wondering about the 555r2. Is it for the most part only good for straight-line acceleration and grip?

I remember loving Nitto tires back on my C5Z06 20 years ago, but that was... 20 years ago

Thanks,

Geoff

They are very different tires intended for different surfaces. The 3R is a streetable radial road course tire and the Nitto is a pure drag radial.
