AFM Valve Question

I have a horrible rattle from my AFM valves that's progressively got worse. I have an aftermarket exhaust where I've replaced the muffler, resonator, and cats but I left the AFM valves. I do have AFM tuned out so they are not needed.

I'm going back to the exhaust shop unless I can do a fix myself. But my question is, which way is open and closed? Are they resting in the open position and when I push on them they close? Or vice versa.

When the car is off I notice I can push them in (towards each other, the middle the car) but I don't know if that is opening or closing the valves. I don't want to accidentally force them shut.

Update: using zip ties somehow made it worse. On startup it was actually almost perfect and sounded great with hardly any rattle. Driving was much worse tho and had almost a constant rattle. Scheduling a shop to remove them soon.

Yeah I’ve seen other guys weld them open on trucks but most of Camaro owners would cut them out instead. I had mine cut out and never looked back as I already had AFM tuned out

Got it fixed, I forgot what the exhaust was like before the rattling, what a difference!
