Knock sensor after cold air intake for V6

Installed a cold air inductions cold air intake on my 2020 Camaro 3.6L V6 and had it with no issues for a month until a service engine light comes on and I go to auto zone and they tell me its a knock sensor. I took my car to local chevy dealership since its under warranty and they said to run premium. Is this normal? the site I got my cold air intake said it needed no tune or anything.

There's something else going on. Running premium is not the answer

A cel would come on in the first few minutes if it was the intake. But with all my bolt ons I never got a cel. I would have AutoZone pull a code asap once it's come on. Code might even be stored.

I took it to auto zone the first few hours it popped up and gave me a knock sensor code and immediately scheduled a service appointment with chevy. I received the car today and no codes have popped up since. Unsure what to do at the moment

The chevy dealership service workers said that they think its the cold air intake causing it. Could this be it? I don't want to give up my intake system

I would start with checking for vacuum leaks. Make sure nothing is loose. Might even give the maf a quick cleaning.

From there, I would check the spark plugs. Fairly easy to check. Took me 90 minutes to replace and that was taking might time.

Once it's all checked I would drive as normal until it pops up again. Sometimes the computer has trouble adjusting for air flow changes which is why they recommend disconnecting the battery during install and letting the car idle for 10 minutes before driving it with the new cai

That CAI is designed to work with your stock tune on 87 octane. Just to be clear your car has no other mods, and the tune was never messed with in any way correct?

could get an odb2 connector pretty cheap and read some of the sensors to see if you are running very lean or rich.

some cai's remove air straighteners in the name of air flow obstructions... and this can impact the maf getting accurate readings.

if you are not leaking anywhere that is. as that is the most likely cause for running too lean and getting knock.

I have not changed my intake from stock because I believe it can compromise the air flow sensor and hurt performance.I keep the engine cover off and use only 93 octane.I got my 21 v6 new and now at 30k miles it runs great.I didn't start using 93 until 18k miles, my mistake.

Let us know how you make out. Was thinking of buying a CAI for my car.

I changed my air filter last weekend.Oil was in the intake,it went through the air filter and drained a little out drain hole in air box.Instead of keeping oil at full I will keep it at half way on dipstick marks.I looked at filter 6 months or so ago and intake was dry.I quess last oil change I should have not filled to top mark. Still runs good.

I am not sure what the minimum recommended octane is for the V6. But anything above the minimum will only hurt performance (and your wallet), unless the car is modified to take advantage of the higher octane.
It's called "power-robbing premium" for a reason!

I drove my first 18 k miles on 87, my last 12k on 93. I know what it runs best on.

altitude, engine load, heat will potentially make 87 knock. pulling timing is situational and will happen less often with higher octane.

but if you are going to drop 300 on replacement intake filter, you might as well get a trifecta tune. you won't find a more noticeable upgrade to the v6 compared to a tune other than forced induction.
