Classic question V6 vs V8 Conv. Plz help

Hi....Noobie here. Purchasing a used Gen 6 convertible. I pretty much have decided on a few things it has to be:
Manual
Under 70k miles
Red or Blue
2Lt 3LT or 2SS
Really want leather with color like red gray or Carmel color
It's a 8month car a year. Live in Pittsburgh don't wanna drive in snow but will if I have too

My big hang up is V6 / V8. Obviously I can get a V6 with everything for about 31kq. A V8 almost has short comings. No leather, or it's automatic, 50k miles vs 70k miles..

0-60 times I've seen show about 1 second difference.

Ugh such a hard decision..

Thank You !!!!!

I'm sure many of you have been here..

V8 vs V6 ??????

This is really almost impossible to answer accurately since it comes down to many personal factors and situations. My opinion is if you can truly afford the V8 then do it, but if it's not truly realistic then I wouldn't take that risk

Unhappy

Yeah I can see what you mean.

I'm just stuck on a red 2017 fully loaded v6 6spd with black & red leather. VS. A 2017 SS cloth interior automatic.

I know the V8 would be fun however the V6 with all the "toppings" might be more fun...

Argh talk about Paralysis Analysis!!

You should try and test drive a V6 and a V8 back to back. This is a question only you can answer, because everyone's preferences and degree of "V8 love" is different, some couldn't care less, others won't touch anything with a non-V8 engine...

It sounds like you are more concerned about the comforts than the extra HP. I had decided on the V6 for my convertible - 335 HP is plenty for a vehicle aimed more at cruising than racing. If the V6 hadn't been constrained that is what I would have.

With that said, the only thing I "regret" is the extra $$ because I was looking at a top trim level either way 3LT with the V6 vs. the 2SS I ended up upgrading to. The big things for me where the heated/cooled seats, HUD, and upgrade tech (Bose, rearview camera mirror, etc.).

I did drive a V6 camaro (w/ the A10) prior to placing my order and with NPP I still liked the sound of it. Now it is not the same rumble as the V8, but still nice. Opinions on any exhaust will vary though.

If you can, test drive both vehicles to see if the extra power is enough to offset any missing features. Any 3LT you look at should have everything a 2SS does in terms of standard equipment except the engine difference.

* nothing beats a V8 rumble - I started with a 2008 BMW M3, then 2012 Merc C63, then 2017 Camaro ZL1.
* nice that you want 6 speed.
* I’d want 2SS trim - I think that gets you leather, heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, knee bolsters, LED light strips, etc.
* I’d look for these options - Recaro seats, magna ride, and dual mode exhaust.
* and while we are dreaming - the Hot Wheels edition was EPIC!
* budget - what’s a budget???

I like the carmel leather color. As far as V6 vs SS, just something for you to consider: Comparing coupe versions of manual to manual, the difference between an SS and V6 is more like 1.2 to 1.4 seconds 0-60. While that doesn't sound like much, consider this alternative: The manual SS takes about 4.8-5.0 sec to go from 60-100 mph, while the manual V6 takes 8.2-8.7 sec. Taking the average of the two, 4.9 sec vs 8.4 (rounded down to help its case), the SS is accelerating 71% harder above 60 mph. That's like the difference between an SS and a Ferrari 812 Superfast. Not close, in other words.

Edit: Those times above were for the coupe versions, but should translate somewhat to convertibles if you're strictly comparing convertibles from a percent difference standpoint, although both will be slightly heavier as a convertible probably resulting in slightly slower times for each car.

So I just sat here for a few hours on Manhiem auto auction website. I sorted Camaro's by convertible, auto & 6spd, 2lt & 3lt 1ss and 2ss, non salvaged non as-isunder 70k miles.
Total of 596 cars. Yep I went through all 596 cars. I think I added 3 to my work book, meaning my watch list. What's crazy the listings show the book price or MMR as they call it and then there is a B.I.N ala- eBay style. Funny thing is that the difference from Book value to the BIN price was anywhere from 6-10k!!! Some and this is a dealers auction. I found some cars and better deals on carscom/autotrader/cargurus and a few other big Used car super stores.
I also found a 2017 red vert with black and white leather? Was that a thing? I've seen black & red, silver,tan and all black. Never seen black & white..
I have to learn to post some pics so I can share this with you guys..

Yep, it's called "ceramic white", a rare but very elegant choice.

The one is enough for me, but it won’t last. I see these get bought fast once they go up for sale, if the price is reasonable.
