For the OP... I've owned both (all 3 if you count 5th Gen) and also had both Auto and manual. I too am 100% track focused with my car and my advice is if you favor the drag strip stick to the ZL1. If you favor the road track then go ZLE. There is a big difference between the two. I've always tried to find that middle ground and it just isn't there. You can do one or the other extremely well but not both. |

So, what we have proved is this…..the ZL1 guys are happy with their purchase and the ZLE guys are happy with their purchase. I think that’s all that matters.

OP here. Thank you all for the input. And you weren’t kidding. This topic does create a ship storm. WOW!
I can say as a road racer, even with just 3-5 weekends a year, and the car being a weekend hoonigan fun car, the ZLE is my pic. Beyond the wing, I have convinced myself the suspension is what Chevy really did the best. It’s what really separates the two. And I thought the ZLE was wider? No? There is more nostalgia with the ZLE too. That said, I find myself very impressed how the new non 1LE ZL1’s look. They scream “teenagers can’t afford me” and they really do look like a $80,000 car. I love the magnaride, but it’s not the technology Chevy went far and above on with the ZLE suspension. Could I be happy in the non 1LE ZL1 at track on sticky tires? Hell, yes. Would I wish I had the ZLE at the track? Hell yes. Would I wish I had the magnaride on the street the other 90% of the time? Hell yes. Geees, you guys were no help after all. Just kidding. Guess I won’t even ask about the Z06 vs ZLE then. Ha!

The ZL1 1LE isn't wider than a non 1LE ZL1. It does have wider front and rear tires 305 front and 325 rear vs 285 front and 305 rears plus a bit more sticky tires.
The ZL1 1LE is a great road course car and you won't be disappointed. Except maybe when it comes to replacing the 3r's when they are done. |

Interesting, I never knew the ZLE was wider aside from the tires.

It isn't any wider. The ZL1's are wider than the rest, but the ZLE has no different body work than the ZL1.

That's more $$$ or if their pocket for R&D plus all the money they'd have to spend to get it tested for crashes. What brackets are you talking about? Did you measure wheel to wheel? |

The 1LE isn't any wider than the standard ZL1 other than the tires on the 1LE are 20mm wider.
