Two Underbody Pieces Fell Off My Brand New Camaro.

I brought this car home from the dealership not even three weeks ago.

Two days ago my friend is looking at my car from behind and notices a piece dangling near the rear left tire. I go to check it out and sure enough, 3 of the four clips that were holding this thing in were gone and the last one was cracked, so I just popped it off. The clips that Chevy uses to hold these in are clearly complete and utter garbage. This piece was missing from the other side, so lord knows where that one fell off.

It appears to be a cover for what I believe is the sway bar, maybe to prevent sand and salt from eroding it over time. I circled where these pieces go in a full underside picture below.

My question is, should I rush to get these replaced? Should I avoid driving without these plastic covers? Has this happened to anyone else or am I just the lucky winner?

Take it back to the dealer and let them reinstall them! That’s what your new car warranty is for and yes they should be on the car.

Those are just aero covers for the rear trailing suspension arms mainly for track use on ss, and ZL1 models. I never put mine on on the last several cars, cause there was no need for me anyway. These are dealer installed, as they come in a bag in the trunk on delivery to the dealer.

I would be more worried what the dealer will do if they improperly lift your car to re-install these!

Likely damaged by the shipper/transporter. If they were "complete and utter garbage" as you say, this wouldn't be the first time any of us have ever seen this. These cars have had these since 2016.

They are on all Camaros that I know of. Mine has them I think they are more for protection from salt and road grime. Not really that big a deal they probably damaged during transport.

Yeah mine had a couple missing clips as well. They seemed useless so I took them off when doing the sways.

Part looks like it was damaged. Impact or gouge on the one corner. Rock damage? Did you hit something?

It’s for aero. I would just order new ones for left and right and get new clips. Install them yourself. Sure it’s under warranty but do you want to give any dealership the change to screw something up on your car?

That's actually from it rubbing against my tire when it was dangling off hanging by a thread.

Welcome, welcome to the land of GM and its glorious build quality LOL. Wait until your bumpers start flexing out or your rocker panels sag.

Kidding aside! I would tell the dealer that I would like replacement parts and that I can install them myself. Have them (Chevy) pay for the parts, and you supply the labor. I don’t think I would risk a “service” visit for something so minor, particularly on that new of a car.

The replacement clips for these are like $1. I'd get new clips and pop it back on. Forget the dealer.

When I picked up my car the covers and clips were in the trunk. My car was a dealer swap. I was told that they normally install them as part of the dealer delivery prep. Since another dealer had received the car they just assumed that they had installed the items. Damaged clips are due to bad dealer prep.

Finally, a post in this thread that's accurate! The whole story is that GM calls this piece a Suspension Control Arm Cover (Part No. 22823593 - see #14 below from GM Parts Direct). It protects the lower rear suspension on each side from road grime, water and anything else that can hit the suspension and help it corrode. They definitely need to be in place; they arrive at the dealer in the trunk and are supposed to be installed by the dealer during PDI. My dealer didn't install them (or the rear spoiler ends either), and the prep on my '18 SS 1LE was so awful that I just picked up the car and prepped and installed everything myself - and the next day changed my warranty records to another dealer.
