Pros: about 30 more HP N/A, higher octane than pump 93, cheaper per gallon than pump 87 octane, one of the best modifications available dollar per hp, known to clean the valves better than gasoline on these direct injection engines, lowers temperature in combustion chamber better than gasoline thereby providing a slightly safer scenario for the tightly gapped factory piston rings.

Cons: about 30% worse fuel economy, does not store long term as well as pump gas, not available everywhere like pump gas is.

Stations are few and far between here, and I couldn't deal with the hassle of E85. I run 104 u/l when I want to squeeze it hard.

NW Ohio we have e-85 everywhere, I'm looking for long term engine problems or issues.

There are members that have been running e85 exclusively for years without issues. Winter storage seems to be the hot topic for an e85 issue, irrelevant to me down south. They recommend not leaving e85 in the car through storage. The only other issue I hear of is pump content differs from summer to winter in the northern states.

A couple of years ago I setup my c63 amg for ethanol. The injectors on the m156 have been known to fail, so while I was installing the kit (which required a lead on every injector) I replaced the injectors with updated (but not uprated) pieces. Factory ones were a little gnarly but nothing unusual for 30k miles. Fast forward a few months and I'd done enough to the car where I needed to put in a larger injector to run anything more than 50%. Did that, and noticed immediately that even though they'd only been in the car a few thousand miles, all the new injectors had a sticky residue on them that the originals did not. I can only assume it was the ethanol. What affects, if any, this has I don't know, but outside of that, I can't recommend it enough.

Check out the thread I started discussing how long some of us have been running E85 as well as other input.
