Id say your price is probably accurate then assuming they know what they're getting into to remove all the shit surrounding the oil pump.

There is another member who posted this job by a dealer, I think it was still around $2800 US - it's a ton of work to attempt yourself

That said, if I was out of warranty and planned to keep the car I would get it done, especially if I was thinking about tracking the car and/or using heavier weight oil. I wouldn't even consider a warranty job with another OEM pump

Dealership got my price down to 2000$ CAD from the 3700$ CAD

They gave me a 25% discount from the District Manager and the other 700$ they saved me is something to do with them getting the parts cheaper or Warranty Parts being cheaper or more expensive????

I'm a bit happier knowing I only paid 60%, its close to the 50% i wanted initially.

If you're getting another OEM pump installed you have zero assurance it won't happen again

Katech or nothing

If Katech kept stock immediately available, I probably would have.

I ordered mine from another vendor and received it within a couple of days as well. See my post in this thread below. There is a number of suppliers you can buy it from.

For those interested, the pump is also available at Scoggin Dickey Parts Center (sdparts.com) and Late Model Engines (latemodelengines.com). It will be delivered to a friend of mine in the US and I will collect it during my next trip there.

Cheap insurance for my ZL1 - I am not going to fit it yet, instead I will keep it in storage and will replace the OEM one if it ever fails.

Adding myself officially to the list. Saw my hot idle psi drop to 19ish after confirming 35ish from older gopro video. I proactively put in a Katech pump. This is what the OEM pump looks like after the initial crack but before total failure. If you see oil psi drop to ~20 PSI its only a matter of time.

The way I see it, the inner ring cracks at that relief cut, and the PSI drops. That might be for 4 seconds or it might be a couple hours. But eventually one of those vanes snags the crack, and all hell breaks loose. You did great catching it when you did.
