Holy crap, finally finished 45 pages... took me all night to get here! I commented in another thread earlier today before finding this one..First impression was " OH MY GOD, WHAT DID THEY DO AND WHY?! I really had a panic like feeling as I really like the current car. I dont get what the complaints are with the current rear end. So after viewing over and over again all evening, its more of a "Meh" now.... not enthused or impressed. I definitely think the photoshops where the flowtie was moved to the upper grill and the bumper painted body color helped enourmously. The tail lights are terrible. Some questions though.... GM states that the SS 1LE package is immediately available. Can someone photoshop a current 1LE theme with this SS? Will the new 1LE get different wheels? And lets say this refresh follows the 5th gen pattern, there would be a new Z/28 very soon. Since all these trims have different appearances, who wants to take a stab at what they think the front and rear fascias of a Z/28 would look like? Since the topic has come up, I'll put my two cents in.... I didnt like the refresh of the 5th gen, but the Z/28 was the absolute best looking 5th gen, hands down!
As far as not having a power update goes, its a bit unfortunate. New Mustang GT is 460 hp and the Bullitt is 480~485. I know peak HP isnt everything, just still doesnt feel right. |

Wow. I mean OW!
Thanks for photoshopping the black painted tongue on the SS to body color. It helps. I have a buddy who owns a body shop. I like the RS better. I don’t think the rear is an improvement, regressing to a blockish 80s bumper, but I probably will get used to it. Less is more Chevrolet. Have you ever heard that? Look how delicately they changed the Mustang (probably for revised pedestrian crash standards). See how careful Porsche was with the 718 Boxster/Cayman? It wasn’t a huge step, just minor refinements. Holy Toledo.

You know, there is that "Ask Al" sub forum. I wonder if he's bothering to take a peek in here to see what people are saying.

Overall there seems to be something missing in the announcement. So they sell a more expensive car than the Mustang with less modern technical features and (as far as we know currently) less power. Not even the entry level V8 was announced. I can't see why people should storm the order banks

Not bringing out a power increase in the cheaper V8 is a huge mistake. The GT is now faster than the SS and costs less. People are running to a decade old nice looking heavy flying brick Challenger and getting looks and a cheap V8, which is all that most people really want anyway. They do a tune, put a CAI and exhaust on and they’re happy.

I highly doubt it. He's an engineer not a car designer. What difference would it make to him whether people hate the midcycle update or not. He still has a $$$$ job and a nice pension/retirement coming soon.
