Its ZL1's direct competition that people have been comparing to the zl1 for months and questioning how the zl1 will compare to it. Heck almost every single numbers thread on the zl1 forum has a comparison to the gt500, this is very much a zl1 topic.

I really don't get comments like this or why anyone is really surprised at the numbers. The GT500 has an 80hp and 350lb weight advantage. .5 tenths faster is really not shocking to anyone that actually knows cars.

What did people expect? The ZL1 to beat it in a straight line on suspension alone? That's ridiculous. So what if its faster. The ZL1 is still an incredible vehicle for 54k. The GT500 was tested @64k.

The pony war is now officially in full throttle. Let's see how GM and Dodge respond.

Think dodge isn't playing anymore >< SRT8 is just barely above the SS and the GT with a what 10k over price tag? not to mention the last 2 models they locked the ecu so you can't mod it

True. Things can turn really ugly quick in the hands of a street show off.

Regardless of whether the Ford GT500 is or is not the ZL1's direct competition, a thread about the test of the GT500 doesn't belong in the main ZL1 forum. A thread about the GT500 belongs one of the other two threads that are already dedicated to GT500 discussion -- the Other Car Discussion forum in the 2013 Mustang GT500 MEGA THREAD, or the Chevy Camaro vs. forum in the ZL1 vs. 2013 GT500 thread.

The main ZL1 thread is reserved for discussions directly regarding the ZL1.

nice tech in it, now american cars are becoming as complicated to work on as german cars......$150+ oil changes, can't change the plugs without a $2000 specialty tool and other crazy BS. can't argue with the performance though....sweeeet

A 57/43 front rear weight means it will have to do some magic to contend with the ring time the z did

Throughly impressed. Mag times are either hero runs or pale in comparison to hands of real world drivers (see anybody saying the SS Camaro is a 13.0 sec car). I wonder which this is?

If they hit lower times in stock trim once your average weekend racer gets a hold of it, then this car is downright scary.

As tested @ 64k is a bit pricey... Does anyone know what in that price range (55-65k) [ZL1 Excluded] is faster or had better performance? I'm not SAYING its direct competition, but what does a 2012-2013 Z06 do in the 1/4?
