SS 1LE A10 vs It's Curb Weight
Drove a '21 SS 1LE A10 today....still trying to process my thoughts... I was hell bent on getting back into a 1LE but after today my "day dream" is not so sure to come true...
The car felt absolutely huge- weight of the car, the recaros were just so plush, magride Cadillac supple in track, you get the point... I am heartbroken. I guess my 2400 lbs current car has me addicted to light weight more so than I thought... |

I autocross a 1LE and am constantly amazed that Chevy seems to have defied physics in making a car this big and heavy change directions so shockingly well. Not sure what you're talking about. Maybe you only drove the car in Tour mode? Things change in Track mode.

No one has ever described a 1LE that weigh ever. Exact opposite of that. |

I'll second how well the chassis and suspension tuning handles the weight. I've had my 21 1LE to 5 track days so far and can't believe how flat the car is when cornering and how well it handles transitions. And this includes pulling 1.1 to 1.4g in the corners at VIR on OEM tires. I am able to keep up with and/or exceed corning of most any other car on the track (at least in the intermediate run groups).
True, it's no feather weight, but it feels more like a go-cart than I expected a car close to 2 tons could feel. |

Well what is the 2400 lbs car? Is it s Miata? I can see the comments depending on what you are currently driving but let's be honest it is a Camaro that is big and heavy. I don't think anyone denies that.. however the 1LE suspension is really well designed and works well with a good set of performance tires.. whenever I go back to driving my Corvette, i am always amazed at how big the Camaro is/feels compared to that car... Soo what is your current ride?

OP, what car do you have which weighs in at 2400lbs?
I just did my first track day with the 1LE, also an SS 6 Speed, and weight was not an issue for me either. But the lightest car I have ever tracked was 3400lbs. So it could be relative. |

It feels a bit big at low speeds but that feeling disappears at track and autocross events! The Recaros do a good job of supporting you in the corners on track while being comfortable on the street even for long trips. And you can enable their built in fans for $150 with the gen5diy kit to get cooled seats on the 1SS 1LE!
But the Camaro's back seats are not very practical to use for actual passengers. The Alfa 4C is about 0.7 seconds slower to 60mph (but the 0-60 time would be almost identical to a manual SS 1LE) and the top speed is about 20mph lower (but good luck trying to find a safe place to reach either of those speeds). I'm not sure if it would make sense to switch away from the 4C especially with the lighter weight probably leading to a lower cost of consumables. Last edited by cdrptrks; 08-16-2021 at 11:33 PM. |

Guys, I'm not denying the 1LE's fantastic dynamics for it's weight and class....no other car can touch the 1le lap times for the money. I drove the car in PTM Sport1, thank you.
Yes, I'm referring to my 2400 lbs 4C. It's insanely different driving experience and feel. It has to be experienced first hand. As I said originally, I want to get back in a 1le, but the 4C has substantially changed my prospective on curb weight. |
