Nope. Sorry. Don't buy it. I understand the whole downforce argument, but I don't see that spoiler as the best (or only) choice available to address the issue. My 2013 SS is capable of 160+ and it didn't come with a wing spoiler.

You can't compare a 5th gen to a 6th gen. Two totally different cars with different rooflines & aero. The 6th roofline is much faster than the 5th.

I talked to one of the designers.
It HAD to be the pedestal style on the V-8 cars to get the proper downforce/aero at speed.

Who's going to ever realistically hit 160 mph? I have a heavy foot, a few speeding tickets in my life, and won't drive without my Escort Passport 9500i....... The fastest I've ever hit was 130 on a back country road with no sight of another car for days.

160??? Is GM entering the SS in NASCAR?

People do buy their cars to take onto racetracks, track days, time attacks. Just because it's not something that you do, (and shouldn't do on public roads) doesn't mean there aren't others that may see that speed on a track.

My question is: would one from a 6th Gen LT fit the SS?

That's not the spoiler. It's missing the middle support.

No they do not. Anybody who chooses to drive at that speed does so at their own risk. There are so many variables at those kind of speeds.

That's BS, he's just telling customers that so they thing that ugly thing has a proper place on the car. The exact same amount of downforce they claim they needed could have been done with a more traditional spoiler like the Z28, or Z06, etc...

I for one will be changing that as soon as a nice aftermarket alternative is available.

No I actually like, people need to see it in person first before making a judgment, pictures do not do this car justice.

I hated my evo X GSR wing, looked ridiculous but after driving the car for a week it has grown on me. I still think the blade spoiler LPO which isn't available looks much better though lol.

So first off, you're discounting all the people who take their Camaros to the track. And there are a LOT of them.

Secondly, are you an engineer with expertise in aero & downforce?
If not, then you are in no position to comment on this topic.
As if you know better than the engineers that designed the thing.

Agreed. I want a true spoiler, not a wing.

No, I like it, too.

But I've always like pedestal style spoilers since they began using them on cars in the late 1960s.

I wonder if you can take the middle support off of the stock spoiler. I have seen it in person and I think it would look fine without the middle support. It seems like early rendering and prototypes only had two side supports, like in the Jay Leno video:
