Tremec TR-6060 Skip-Shift Eliminator

For any of you who don't like being locked out of second and third gear sometimes, I just installed a SLP Skip-Shift Eliminator P/N 21008 in my 1SS and it works great. My only word of caution is that I had a heck of a time getting my hand around the side of the transmission to get at the solenoid connector. I ended up having to use an improvised tool to lift the connector locking latch while pulling it off. You still get the 1st to 4th shift message, but now it can simply be ignored.

I had that on my c6, but others said they just pulled a fuse, or replaced that fuse with a bad one so it won't lock you out of gear. Anyone ever tried that yet? I know it's a little silly considering the part was only 20-30 for the vettes

This one worked great for me:

I just ordered the one from phastek. I've found the two times it did lock me out I just released the clutch in neutral, clutched again and went into second no problem.

Going along the lines of the comment on the fuse, I wonder if a CEL sets for the skip-shift system? I know in the 2012 Mustang GT I had, if you disabled the skip shift (I just disconnected the solenoid) it would, of course, set DTC's, but it would NOT set a CEL.

Not going to bring up any dealer names but the service advisor told me if you have it on and you have problems with your tranny, GM may blame it on the skip shift eliminator. Has nothing to do with it really but you know those guys!

Of course, you can always take it off prior.

a thread worth reading regarding it..

I installed mine yesterday

A very long flat head can be put under the locking latch for the solenoid connector, give the screw diver a slight twist and start wiggling the plug out.

To get the blank plug in I used a pair of double hinged needle nose pliers, once its somewhat in the hole you can reach a finger or 2 up and push it in till it locks

Cheers

When you feel it move over to put you into 4th just let the lever center itself in neutral and then put it into 2nd.
