Sadly, I think this outlines exactly why so many are in a student loan crisis...let's not pay down our debt or reduce the amount we incur...let's go out and buy that $50,000 sports car right after graduation. It's not like I'm not going to get a six figure job right out of the gate... Just because someone will loan you the money doesn't mean you should borrow it...just my .02

A lot of subtext in your post.
Is it about young people buying their dream car? Or simply about student loan debt?

I can't speak for the other members/college students, but I have no student loan debt because I have attended college under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. That will, however, likely be changing this Fall if I'm accepted to attend a local law school.

If YOU or your parents can afford YOUR car then good on you. Even better if you're also doing great in college. I hope to be able to do the same for my kid if he earns it.

I have a 2018 2ss hot wheels edition and I am going to be a senior next year. I am 21 and very fortunate that my parents are able to help me with college, and a majority portion of the car. I do still have a loan, but I got an internship with a great company this summer so I will be alright paying it off.

Now it's easy to get an SS, especially now that I'm no longer studying at college but working. But the car is top.

In 2001 while in college I bought a M6 1995 Trans Am. The only reason I could afford it was because it didn’t have many options (cruise, power windows, and upgraded stereo was about it) and I bought it from my best friend who was essentially like a brother to me. He sold it to me for $10,400 (about $16k in todays dollar). He could have easily gotten $13k for it on the market. But like I said, we were like brothers. I only mention this because it’s the same as if someone in college now bought a 2016 SS, but paid $16k (dream on!!). I had debt, and a car payment, but never really regretted it. Sold it 10 years later. Was a fun car.

When I was in college I had money but didn't see any SS competitors, so the choice was easy.

I'm a 50 year old full time college student, and have my 2022 LT-1. But when I was 18 in college for the first time, I had a 1984 Buick Skyhawk with 100hp/3 spd auto, slow as hell...

Let me just put this here for reference (and perspective), this is what ran on our Eastern European roads in significant numbers when I entered college age: https://youtu.be/No1-4GsQa-g
