Motec M1 ECU

I just returned from a lengthy discussion with a local tuner about modding my car and he brought up a Motec ECU and its inestimable superiority over using HP Tuners to control my car.

I am impressed with his sales pitch. I am hoping someone with much more knowledge than I can give me some perspective. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Very good quality gear. Australian Supercar V8s series ran them for years, as did a lot of top dollar race and street cars, probably still do.

I was looking at running one in the Maserati about six years ago, but could not justify the cost.

Yessir! But, will it, damn near, drive my car for me? He talked about, among a lot of other things, the traction control would be alien in its ability to put power to the ground. He estimate that the traction control would be able to cut a half a second off of a quarter mile at the least - all by itself!

Neat, very neat.

But you don’t need it. Are you racing this car professionally with money on the line?

In my opinion...

Motec is an extremely capable engine management system. One of the best.

it's beyond proven.

If you're committed to this platform and your goal, do it!

Price is information. Flashing our factory Ecu's cannot be tuned in the way a motorsport system can .

We follow what we see. Most people won't explore these systems cause of lack of info, Price, and setup.

Downside.. never pass any emissions testing ever that relies on OBD2 port.

Race car - perfect fit.
