Camaro GM parts prices

I'm in the UK and have a '18 model SS. I knocked the passenger door mirror the other day, broke the glass and cracked the housing.

It's repairable but I called the only Chevy dealer in the UK for replacements.

Glass only: approx $365

Mirror housing (inc. glass): approx $ 1300 (not painted)

I can't import a US one as the EU mirrors are different, but still! Are US prices for what I would call easy to damage items so much?

I have a BMW RR sport bike, and every piece in the US for it is twice what it costs to order directly from Germany. $50 shipping but it pays for itself.

I see $183 for the US version of your mirror and $110 for the glass.

Here's a link to the housing

Would they even know if you used US mirrors?

Nah they’re not that bad here, plus there’s so many GM mechanics and junkyards it won’t be that bad most places.

Yeah, the mirror is physically different as it's larger and has a turn signal built into it. What a difference in prices though!!

you can google the part numbers on US sites and see the price. (it's about twice the us variant price - which is still about 1000 usd less than you quoted)

If you're paying much more than that in the UK, it's due to import duties / local distributor markups. Plain shipping costs can't be that much...the part doesn't weigh much and isn't oversized.

eBay! Find one from a wrecked car for half the price. You can always have it painted if you can't find the color you need.

Your mirrors in the UK are larger than ours and have built in turn signals. Aren’t they collapsible as well (for parking in all those narrow British streets)?

Honestly, I’d be a little interested in replacing ours with those. Especially if they’re collapsible.

Yes, they are folding mirrors, which is appealing even though they're manual, but IMO these EU/Asia mirrors look a bit truckish overall, much too tall for the dimensions of the car.
