I do find it odd that so many will tell their anecdotal "evidence" that the 2.7L L3B equipped Silverados/Sierras are just sitting on the lots not selling. While the F-150's 2.7EB has no problem selling. It's 335/400 is also torque-wise less impressive than the 310/430 offered by the gm unit.
Is it just the cylinder count that throws everyone off? Because obviously the displacements are almost identical 2.767L for the L3B and 2.700L for the EB.

I think the inherent “buzzy” nature of 4-cylinder engines versus the smoother V6 is the problem.

This is another example of gm not knowing anything about their customers!
I chose the 5.3 V8 over this engine because it was much smoother and much quieter. I can tow a trailer down the road and the V8 doesn't flinch.

The resale value is much higher when a truck has a V8.
They must know something because we sell way more 2.7Ls than any other engine. Just saying.

2.7s are selling just fine. If anyone that's not in the car business tells you that, they're full of shit.

I'd be willing to bet that you lease more 4 cyl. and sell more V8's.

Nope. I'm in Texas and we don't do many leases at all. We don't even average 1 per month. Leasing is not as popular down here as it is in other parts of the country.

No, I work at a dealership. The Tahoes are still made in Arlington, Tx but 1500 trucks come from Mexico, Ft. Wayne Indiana or Canada.

How is the 3.0L Diesel holding up?

I can see the benefits of a 2.7L turbo in the smaller trucks, but even then, they don't get better mileage. Lower down torque is a lot better, the 3.6L is a solid engine, but needs lots of revs to build decent power, not great for towing anything over 6,000lbs. Even the E30 = 2500 lbs trailer (5,200 lbs) was a challenge on mountain roads.

FWIW, the 2.7 is not only used in trucks -- it's in the CT4-V (non-BW) and (I believe) the top trim CT4 model (maybe Premium?)

Seems to be good so far. We'll see how they do with more time and mileage on them though.

We don't see many of them in here with major issue. We had one that was eating oil like crazy and found it was due to a manufacturing defect on the block where one of the surfaces wasn't fully sealing because it wasn't completely flat. GM replaced the engine and it's all good now.

Care to elaborate on what exactly you didn't like and what you did like about each powerplant?

The 5.3L holds the HP advantage, that's for sure, but it's 383lb-ft of torque at 4100rpm is topped fairly handily by the other two. Not just in output but in time of delivery. The L3B delivers its 430lb-ft @ 3000rpm while the LZ0's 495lb-ft happens at only 2750rpm.

wasnt a fan of the turbo lag and it felt underpowered for the size of the truck im sure the gas mileage is fine but i will be towing my camaro and trailer later and i had a cruze with a baby turbo and it below out about 100,000 miles dont want that to happen again
