For the same reason our 5th gen's are so small... annoyingly small...

1. For safety reasons? That area has to be strong enough to meet safety requirements. removing structural metals for glass would compromise strength? the 5th gen camaro is 1 of the safest cars on the road simply because of the way it looks. when you're inside its like you're sitting down in a tank, I love the feeling. I think the 5th gen broke a safety standards record at one point.

2. Looks? subjective. but I think it wouldn't look as cool.

Not exactly:

I really like driving the fifth gens, but backing out of a parking space and changing lanes was a scary maneuver. The Mustang has good visibility, but you felt like you're sitting up on a stool vs. the Camaro's preferred deep seated position. Tech like backup/rear collision/blind spot sensors will help this next gen.

I hope they get it right the first time for the sixth generation.

yeah it did. the article you posted is from 2010. the 5th gen was the first car to receive a perfect score in 13-14 I l believe I'll find it and post it... I agree there's less visibility than just about any other vehicle on the road but it hasn't stopped them from selling like hot cakes. I can't go to the store without seeing at least 2! men/women short/tall I see doezens of 5th gens per day

2012 camaro first vehicle EVER to get perfect scores in ALL categories (nhtsa) other cars have 5 stars, Camaro was the first to have 100%

I hear people complain about the visibility in the Camaro. It is definitely not like an SUV but I haven't really had a problem with it. I have to say though that the backup sensors have saved me several times.

Actual 2016 Chevy Camaro body side showing roofline and fender

I read this in Car & Driver. We haven't even seen anything on the 2016 Camaro interior. Perhaps that's a good thing. Chevrolet has to step up to the plate and give us something spectacular. Don't let us down GM/Chevrolet.

Maybe this goes to show you how BAD the Mustang interior was before?

New Mustang interior is in fact very well done. The Mustang interior was bad before? I think the one in my 13 is actually fairly decent. Hope GM does a great job as I'm looking to get into a 2016 Camaro as I'm more of a GM fan than I'll ever be a Ford one.

Don't really see what the big deal is on the new mustang interior? Pretty boring and unoriginal if you ask me. I'm sure the fit and finish is an upgrade but otherwise meh.
