Faster than SS 1LE?
https://gmauthority.com/blog/2021/06...-at-vir-video/
Not exactly sure what tires this Caddy wears, but i think they are S4s? Pretty stout lap given the car's stock specs. I wonder if GM sandbagged its power ratings, as the old ATS V was no match for the Camaro. Just my musings here |

I'm lucky enough to have received a reservation for one of these. The tires are S4s however, they're not off of the shelf and were designed specifically for this car and are in between an S4 and a Cup 2. Additionally, Bill Wise, who drove the ZL1 1LE at The Ring, was driving the CT4-V Blackwing at VIR. https://gmauthority.com/blog/2021/06...ichelin-tires/

A little birdy told me that GM had engineering ATS-V's running around safely pushing 500 hp

Congrats to "ZL1 1LE" on the reservation! I think if i didn't buy my 20, that's the car i would be getting this year.
As far as performance, watching that vid the car looks super hooked and fast. It does have the new magic Michelin rubber and brand new MR, but also it is heavier (even more so with A10), with almost negligible HP increase over 1LE, less torque and much, much skinnier tires. So, something else must be cooking here. Can't wait for independent dyno results and Laguna times in Randy’s hands. The latter will be the most reliable answer here. |

Well, SS 1LE didn't come with 10AT until 2021 MY. As much as I like driving a stick, I think the 10AT would have improved the lap time.
And maybe it's just the improvement they made with Alpha 2 vs. Alpha.

Ditto here. I went to check back the Lightning Laps and was like: whoa! Even just watching that vid the car looks superbly balanced and easy to push imo (based on number and type of corrections made).
Another interesting tid bit for me, is that CT4 V-B will do 0 to 60 in 3.8 secs. That's huge considering its specs, not to mention it is only 0.1 behind its big brother, which has tons more power. |

It will certainly be faster. Next gen chassis tuning, turbo motor with fat torque curve, and a slick auto trans. So yeah, no doubt it will be quicker.
But I doubt it will be more fun. Less noise, less driver involvement, less visceral nature. I'll hold on to the 6 speed manual 1LE for now. Oh, and V8 noises FTW. |
